Daniel Ricciardo
Discussion
He was on a tyre strategy which helped him at the end of the race, compared to his rivals around him.
However, he was only 2 tenths off Norris at the end of Q2 and he did well to make his mediums work in the first half of the race.
It was a good race for him, compared to the disaster that was Austin, but I think his problems with the car are too deep-rooted to have been solved in one weekend.

It's worth noting he lucked out massively in Mexico
Looking at the race pace charts, Lando was 0.16 seconds a lap slower than DR when LN was on Hards (worst tyre of the weekend) managing cooling and brake issues, and DR was on Softs. LR reckons his strategy cost him about 30-40 seconds relative to DR. (LR would say that but from other teams running the same we can see this may have merit, and LR doesn't often throw shade or lie)
Was good to see DR up and at em, maybe the confidence boost will see an upswing in performance.

he was on ‘your moms house’ podcast this week (although filmed/ recorded before austin gp) and he confirmed he won’t be racing in 2023!! but seemed confident he might be able to come back in 24
Only way that will happen is if someone like Alonso retired after one season at AM or one of the lower teams like Haas drops a driver.malks222 said:

Just came here to post that, it came to the top of my playlist today. Possibly the funniest 40-minute video ever with an F1 driver! Fair play to his handlers, for letting him sit and play with two comics for more than half an hour. I’ll bet he’s never been asked which other F1 driver he’d choose for a threesome before, and nor has he ever said a dozen c-words in a single interview! He did very well, lots of smiles and a few jokes, which isn’t easy when sitting next to people who do that for a living.

I get the feeling he wanted to say a lot more than he I'd currently allowed to. Hopefully he's on as a guest again next year and can do a full episode either that or appear as a guest bear on 2 bears 1 cave while Bert Kreischer is in Europe at the start of next year. He’d be a good guest bear, but only when his F1 career is over and he really doesn’t have to give a f… any more. He should definitely write a book though, I’d buy it.
