Great interview, and probably the polar opposite of a D2S episode (I have never watched, but I would imagine it is pretty snipey, toxic-fuelled bs)

I get the feeling he wanted to say a lot more than he I'd currently allowed to. Hopefully he's on as a guest again next year and can do a full episode either that or appear as a guest bear on 2 bears 1 cave while Bert Kreischer is in Europe at the start of next year.
He’d be a good guest bear, but only when his F1 career is over and he really doesn’t have to give a f… any more.

He should definitely write a book though, I’d buy it.
That'd definitely make a good read.

I honestly did not expect that! The way things are going that role might offer more tracktime than we might previously have thought laugh

Seems like a backwards step, but I'm sure his bank balance won't mind.

Would this make him the most experienced (in terms of GP starts) reserve driver ever?

At the moment it's not confirmed anywhere other than an interview with Helmut where he said he'll be doing some demonstration drives and ambassadorial work for the team. In the same interview he said Liam Lawson will be the team's reserve driver next year - no mention of Daniel in that role.

I can’t see that happening, at all.

Suggestion in the Sky commentary from Ted Kravitz, that Daniel is going to RB and Schumacher is going to Mercedes, both as reserve drivers.

We've seen it with Gasly and before with Kvyat, if Perez doesn't tow the party line he will be out and they can slot Ricciardo in now...

Why not? All he has to do is a couple of representative test sessions set times in the top three and then he’s Re-secured his reputation again as a top level quick driver and will get a nice contract at a top
Team for 2024 . F1 has short memories they will forget his tough time at
McLaren as they are too busy looking at the top of the timesheets!

I doubt he will Race for Redbull it’s pointless going up against Max in that team.

It’s a decent insurance policy in case Perez does something silly.

But, at the end of the day, he won’t do anything silly.

Ultimately, it’s all Max’s choice anyway……. wink

Ric is not a shrinking violet, so he will be remembered for longer. Plus, he showed Max how to race before RB put their efforts behind Max and dialling in the car to suit his style.

Checo looked beaten into submission, so-much-so that he was doing the apologising ffs... rofl So no, Ric will probably not be driving - and perhaps showing Max up again - unlees Perez grows some, which he won't.

Looks like a rather important placement of the word “if” was missed in the original quote…

Say what you want about Ricciardo, but he is a man of integrity and a man of his word - he left Red Bull so as not to be stuck as a number 2 driver to max**, and he’s now going back to be stuck as a number 3 driver to max**

I would quit then humiliate myself going back as a test driver

Quits because he doesn't want to be a number 2 and is going back to be a number 3.

Journey man level complete.

Give it a few years, then at least one of the sacked / retiring drivers will be back... with Audi. scratchchin
( DR would be a safe pair of hands).
