I'm not sure if this is going to be a boring race due to the likely problems overtaking, or if it will be great fun due to what will basically be a ring of cars around the circuit, if you take the typical 1.5-2.5 seconds between the cars due to the difficulty in following the car in front and the lap-time. Obviously oversimplified, but it will be a bit different to most.
I'd imagine overtaking should be pretty similar to last weekend, given that the last two corners (leading onto the main DRS zone) and the first corner (where the main braking zone is) are the same?SpudLink said:
The Mercedes is notorious for its difficulty in the aero wash of another car. By mid race there might not be any part of the track where the cars are not in the wake of another car.
I don’t think we will see the front of the pack running off into the distance on Sunday.
We're certainly not going to see people "pitting into a gap" because there wont be any gaps. I don’t think we will see the front of the pack running off into the distance on Sunday.

Can't help feeling this race will be a clusterf**k with alot of breakdowns..
Gearbox and driveline failures are likely due to the bumpy traction zones.kambites said:
I wonder if they'll be frantically working to get the bump properly represented in the sim so the sim drivers can try to find better lines.
It would make sense - are they allowed to survey the track to get the model perfect whenever they wish?In any case we're talking about a sim track that led them to believe the lap times would be about 10% longer than they actually are likely to be - so how much faith can they have? It must be very difficult to get it to be usefully accurate with a 'new' circuit.

Russell is faster than Lando Norris due to driving ability
Not sure that is a fact, you can spout it as opinion but I wouldn't say that just yet, Lando is rapid make no mistake, bear in mind Norris is up against Sainz who was very well regarded against Verstappen and Lando has the measure of Sainz. Danny Ric coming into that McLaren next year will give us a measure of Norris I think."Because in 2018 in F2 Russell got 7 wins to the next highest driver, who got 1. Which was Landon Norris, who is not slow"
Russell got 287 points and Lando got 219"
And then you said
"you can spout it as opinion but I wouldn't say that just yet,"
which is what you just did in defence of Norris with no stats and saying
"Lando is rapid make no mistake, bear in mind Norris is up against Sainz who was very well regarded against Verstappen"
is just your fanboyism coming out. Sainz has never been highly regarded against Max apart from the planet in the parallel universe you live on.
Next.

Yep, it’s only going to take 10-15 laps until the leaders catch up to the back of the field. It’s going to be like oval racing after that, with almost constant traffic on such a short track. Got to be a high probability of someone tripping over someone else at some point, could be a busy day for the safety car.
That'll make it a bugger for the cars at the back, they'll basically be driving under constant blue flags for three quarters of the race. ![hehe](/inc/images/hehe.gif)

Gearbox and driveline failures are likely due to the bumpy traction zones.I still think that under race conditions they might struggle with heat and tyre wear too - but perhaps I won't be wrong about that too

Bottas finally wakes up and sets a competitive time.
Edit: only for it to be deleted for running off the track!
I think he's overdriving, under pressure.Edit: only for it to be deleted for running off the track!
It’s not easy being LH’s team mate, it nearly broke Nico Rosberg trying to keep up. Now watching George come into the team and hit the ground running must be seriously demoralising.

Worth noting that Bottas’s time was around 2 tenths faster than Russell’s and he was only fractional over track limits. Lewis was similar a couple of races ago where he ended up right down the time sheets because his flying lap was deleted,
Yes, he’s been the quickest driver on the sector times, just hasn’t managed to put a single clean lap together. Gassing Station | Formula 1 | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
