I don’t know why posters continually say oh he could race this or that, he’s explained numerous times he’s only interested in F1.
Which, when you haven't got a drive is pretty lame. Plenty of drivers have gone off and done some actual racing and come back before so it's not like it's impossible. Perhaps he's too scared of getting beaten in another series too. thiscocks said:

Why is it weird? He's driven an F1 car hasn't he?
Guess I prefer drivers who just like to race no matter what series. That's why I would have much preferred Alonso to try a full CART season instead of what I think is wasting his time in midfield F1 teams.

Daniel will only attend a fraction of the races as well as some other engagements, but will hopefully spend much more time at home than he would've if he had been racing. Do you remember how down in the mouth he was during Covid when he was unable to go home? I wonder if the thinking time and comfort of a freer schedule is what he needs to rediscover his mojo.
I can't imagine Red Bull will offer him any kind of drive that he will be interested in, but he'll remain fit, his face will be seen in the paddock, and some positive noises from the team could keep him in consideration with other teams for a race drive.

Just to check - left Red Bull as did not want to be treated 2nd to Max. Will now be treated 2nd to Checo (then once Checo fails to bow down to the Gifted One, just 2nd to Max)....
Suppose drives are thin on the ground, maybe the RBR dispute has been bubbling under longer than it appears ?C70R said:

Quickest cars in top level international motorsport with the media profile, popularity and earning potential.
Higher rate of development because it is constant.
There is no championship that can rival F1 technically and match the earning potential. Other categories can be/are more challenging but an F1 car is far, far unique.
This is why Alonso did not do a full season of Indycar and was quickly bored of WEC. He just wanted LM24 and Indy500 ticked off the bucket list. Even Kimi who I consider as proper old-school racer with racing in his blood and drive anything was desperate to be back in F1.

Horner said that he'll be a reserve but will be doing a lot of the PR stuff to take the pressure off MC and SP. Doesn't sound like a great way to continue your career in F1? Basically a Redbull ambassador ?
Media: "...So, the latest controversy is (insert here). What do you have to say Mr Horner?"CH: "Erm, well we have discussed that and.....Hey, look over there! It's Danny!! Isn't he just the smiliest person...!!"
Danny: "Hi Guys...., isn't this great! Great this! Great that! This could be a little better, but it is still great....etc, etc"

How ever Kimi does seem to be getting out and about trying other things now. Seemed pretty solid in NASCAR a few months back. Quickest cars in top level international motorsport with the media profile, popularity and earning potential.

When he is not actually at the circuit during a race weekend, he will be in the simulator at RBR testing out the various strategy, settings etc. permutations, and since he doesn't have a home in Milton Keynes, he won't be at home. I expect that if Perez did leave (for whatever reason), RedBull would probably bring is somebody newer, younger and faster than Ricciardo. Crucially somebody who was willing and happy to be be number 2 driver. If rumours are true, Perez isn't going to be at Dead Bull next year....Verstappen still "furious " etc etc and we know he's in charge there. Signing Danny was more than just insurance should Perez walk. No seats left now either so RB can drop him and he's toast so he has to toe the line.
