Easy when you have the fastest car with a poor team mate.
You'd call MV's achievements this year....'easy'.

Really?

How talented Verstappen might be is not relevant. Perez had a big car advantage and didn’t deliver. He’s a decent journeyman.
Perez is #2 in the team, every team has a number one driver, even Mercedes, that's life...and racing. It's ok having two super talented drivers, but pick two top stars and they will have the same mentality to win...the team ceases to function properly.

And how do you know someone else in the RB would be any better than Perez?

Yep. EASY! Merc offered no really opposition. Ferrari offer no sustained opposition/competition, dropping the ball/very poor strategy. 140+ points over 2nd placed Leclerc, pleased he was 2nd. Where did Max struggle or suffer?

I don’t agree with the “easy” accusation but it’s worth noting that it’s an accusation that was levelled at Hamilton continually from 2014-2020

RB need someone like Russell in to challenge max, he's decimated every other driver next to him since daniel left.
Why on earth would they want someone to come in and “challenge” Max??

We had this debate for a long time when Mercedes were dominating and people were suggesting top line alternatives to Bottas.

From Red Bull’s perspective; they are doing pretty fine as it is, they don’t need any other driver coming in and upsetting their applecart.

Not every team has a number one driver? Merc and Ferrari, for example, appear to just let them race.

As to someone being better than Perez, we can look back his entire career, he’s never been anything other than a solid number two driver. I think we could hazard a guess that many drivers could do better in that car. Of course, if Red Bull maintains this kind of dominance they don’t actually need that, so Perez fits the bill as a safe pair of hands but not more than that.

The Mercedes mechanics threw Nyck de Vries into the marina, pulled him out, tied him to a tyre trolley and wheeled him down the pit lane to dump him in the Alpha Touri garage hehe

Toto stopped his Sky De interview to witness it.

Good riddance to F1 2022. Yes, I’m not a Max fan, I just cannot warm to him and having spent time with Dutch F1 fans, I’m never likely to. Hopefully Lewis and George will get a car to challenge and Ferrari will sort out their reliability and strategy cock ups otherwise the unlikeable one will get a free run in 2023 as his teammate is no match.

The reb bull cars must be different spec of just not bolted together with the same love. Lawson jumped in and did quite well in max's car. Would have been interesting to see wether that was the same if he was in checo's.
They seemed to balls up the strategy anyway so you have to question wether they cared he came 2nd.
Unless someone can tell me otherwise why wouldnt you spend the most on your no1 driver? Like an 80/20 split on the budget.
Alpha tory seemed hopeless. You would think they should be running a design that newey decided against by a tiny margin.
Maybe a lot of AT budget and time gets spent on testing ideas for the main team that are no use to them.
bye bye 2022 season.

Nope. I think given the right car we're looking at a future world champ there

Russel has driven well, had more luck this season than anyone normally gets but has more than made the most of it.
Points difference between the two flatter him but think Merc will be very pleased with his performance.

Dull end to a dull season but I’m looking forward to closer racing next year.

Yes, poor teammate (lasted 1 season at McLaren for example, almost had no team until RB signed him etc) and other teams not challenging him in the race for the most part. You can’t get such statistics without clearly having a dominant car/poor teammate, by the very nature of them.

I wasn't speaking for RB, I was speaking for myself as a paying fan of the sport.

I'm sure you enjoyed the Rosberg years better than the Bottas years? I know I did.
