I think it’ll all hang on if William excel and produce a decent car, that will be half the battle.
First year Paddy's had a chance to direct things. Interesting, but I suspect he won't have had the resources to do anything all that special.HighwayStar said:

First year Paddy's had a chance to direct things. Interesting, but I suspect he won't have had the resources to do anything all that special. The issue they have is that even if Williams do everything right, and have all the facilities available to man, it's still 600 people against 1700 at Mercedes (about 1100 on the car side, 600 on the engine)... and Merc get to package the PU specifically to their requirements.
It's like watching a lightweight squaring up to a super heavyweight for a fight. Even if they are both great boxers on their best form, you know what's going to happen...

A weak attempt at humour?
Nothing like taking what I said totally out of context... my comment was with regards to Jolly Jim seemingly writing off Stroll and pinning all on Kubica as Williams’s saviour and but now a lost opportunity.
the Murdoch name is apt

It was clearly a joke (or non serious comment if you didn't find it funny)

Joe Saward
These days I view Sawad's observations with complete scepticism. His propensity for bias really shone through when Caterham and Lotus did their recent F1 stuff. I just can't take him seriously any more so much so that I either disregard what he churns out or prefer to believe the exact opposite. (This may be more my issue than his.)As for Williams and Kubica it seems that a predominantly financial decision has been made in preference to an emotional one. Can't really fault them for that and it's certainly not the first time such a choice has needed to be made by them or any of the other teams.
I wonder what's next for Robert?

I wonder what the future has in store for Williams.
It's not a championship team.
Given that only maybe 4 teams are capable then what does the future hold for the other 6?It's not a championship team.
The future of the smaller teams hangs on the next Concorde Agreement, fairer distribution of prize money etc. The current on expires in 2020.
This gives some idea of how things currently work...

You're attempting to talk rationally to someone with entrenched ideas. You're encountering the backfire effect.
Essentially, the more wrong Jim is, the more convinced he'll be that you're a threat and that he's in the right.
It's fight or flight.

That's good then. From the same article:
"Russian Sergey Sirotkin also tested for Williams on Wednesday and recorded a best time of 1:39.947 on the soft tyre, which was 1.3 seconds quicker than Kubica had managed on the same compound on Tuesday."
^I suspect we’re wasting our time at this point.
Sirotkin was apparently faster and brought twice as much money. A sensible choice for Williams whose financial struggles are widely known. I hope they are shoring up their finances and organising their team so that they are ready to capitalise on any cash injection.
ETA: if Williams were ‘going racing’ next year, ignoring the fact they’ve got Stroll for a couple more years, Wehrlein or Kvyat would’ve probably been safer bets than Kubica.

Oh lol. He rather shot himself in the foot there didn’t he. He must be scouring the net for another obscure fanboi article
Why is that shooting myself in the foot?Kubica without 100% arm movement can still beat the Williams full time driver.
Kubica was never the strongest on a single lap it was his race craft which excelled.
You can't buy that.
Kubica without 100% arm movement can still beat the Williams full time driver - Unfortunately for RK that was not shown on the test
Kubica was never the strongest on a single lap it was his race craft which excelled - Past tense , many drivers arent the same after a accident let alone a 7 year break from the sport its a risk , no use pretending it isnt
You can't buy that - You can just Williams cant afford to
If RK is that good he deserves to be a better car than that Williams

Nobody can even be paid to give him a drive.
