Credit to Rosberg there, he salvaged second on the grid when it never looked on.... he knows all he has to do is get through the first lap cleanly and cruise to second tomorrow. Hamilton just on a different level this weekend.
Ferrari... wow.... wtf is going on there. Vettel is possibly going to get a penalty for blocking and he couldn't even beat Kimi's first run time. Kimi now apparently has some engine issue so that could be a penalty if it isn't fixable. They also wasted a set of new super softs in Q2 when it was pretty clear they were within the cut off time. The whole team seems to be in melt down.

Good work from Nico after a slightly off weekend, but he has a lot of work yet to do and he won't be enjoying the performance delta to Lewis this last two weeks. There is no way he's happy following Lewis home for the next three races. That leaves too much in the hands of Lady Luck (a puncture, an ill timed VSC etc could snatch it all away from him). He has to be telling himself it's all still to race for and he has to cash his points credit chips sparingly and only where he absolutely has to. He won't be taking unnecessary risks, but he won't be cruising.Going to be an exciting T1 tomorrow, I can imagine a RB being in P1 and the Mercs being in a real battle to regain track position.

I suspect they will be better on the softs - which might be the reason they were wanting to use the super softs in Q2 as they won't want to use them much during the race. But certainly they seem to be the 3rd team now. I guess any fans have to hope they are concentrating on next season's car instead, but I am not too sure. The strategy side is not great at all, no matter what car they are focusing on.Well done Lewis for the weekend so far, and well done Nico for getting it (mostly) done when it matters on the Saturday despite a poor weekend so far.

Yeah I agree with what you are saying to an extent - 'cruise to second' was me perhaps over stating it..... however Rosberg does go into the race knowing he can finish second and it isn't the end of the world but for Lewis being outscored really is a disaster. I mean if a Red Bull were to steal the lead and go on to win that would be good for Rosberg too because if Hamilton finishes 2nd he only needs 4th. It also appears Ferrari are unlikely to be a major factor so that is two less cars to take points away from Rosberg.
