Monaco should give Red Bull a good chance of a win and podium places.

Also Williams need a break and this could be their best chance until they get thair issues with the floor sorted out.

Mercedes have asked for a clarification on oil burn which suggests that Ferrari have been up to something.
I had assumed that Ferrari were still burning oil - you can see it coming out of the exhaust pipe.

Unless, of course, they've mounted a couple of Josticks up there just to confuse Merc.

This. Even at Monaco you'll need a decent handling car with decent aero and competent drivers. The Williams has none of this.
Combine the dog of a car with the inevitable crash that is bound to happen towards the rear of the grid and they'll be lucky to make it past half distance.

I guess it depends on the aero stall issue, and if it's characteristics will make itself felt...

I'm predicting that the Mercs don't qualify on the front row. Bottas will pit early forcing the hand of the Ferraris and/or the Red Bulls (depending on who is leading) leaving Ham going long out front. One of the usual suspects will bin it bringing out the safety car leaving Ham to pit for fresh rubber and then cruise to a win by 20 seconds. We won't see it though as the battle for 2nd, 3rd and 4th will be a case of Mansell/Senna style madness resulting in a final lap crash.

New tall garages (H/t @RenaultSportF1)

It has been raining today. The place is looking something else.

What do the pit buildings double as for the rest of the year?

They're not there. They're temporary buildings, put up for the classic (every other year) and the GP. I believe it's mostly just a car park, but is also used as the muster point for the Monte, and presumably something like marquees when the boat show is on.

In the old pit buildings there was famously one that had to be assembled around a tree.

the logistic of having to work there during the Monaco GP is a bit of a nightmare! Arriving thursday, hoping for some rain during the race.

Monaco will chew them up and spit them out at least once each

I think Monaco has a lot of it's own rules for race weekend vs other races.

And what do you know, Ferrari hasn't removed the halo mounted mirrors. But removed the little winglet above it. Your move FIA!

hehe

I think that's fine isn't it as there's nothing there purely for aerodynamic efficiency any more.

There is supposed to be a technical regulation issued before the race weekend..

Although in this guise they'll be ok (under the old rules).

Edit, found the FIA update.

A rare day off with no wife or child in sight for me tomorrow, so I'll be tuning in for practice.

You are all paying attention, good! wink

You guys are right, the winglet was banned but the mirror was allowed. For some reason I got it in my head that the halo mounted mirror was slightly higher than the previous chassis mounted one. The slats in the Ferrari mirrors are clear aero devices.

First glimpses of a rear wing

Not big enough! grumpy

Merc have copied McLaren style vortex generators on top of the side pods.

The teams used to only have the pit garage for the session; the main base was in a car park up the hill & everything used to be carted up & down the hill before & after the sessions. There were no bogs either so round the back of the pits wasn't a nice place to be. Ah the glamour of Monaco.

So Ferrari are still hanging things off the Halo (which is a safety device) what happens if a mirror ends up getting knocked off and into the cockpit then ?
