Frosty between Claire Williams & Paddy when they finally get the car together in the pit garage during testing!

Good watch, but as said before S1 was a better watch I think. What nationality is Gunther? He sounds like Henning Wehn, again he was the star of the series smile

The only talking from Kimmi, at the end of episode 10, was rather telling....

Yes, I do wonder why they have to quite so sweary in what should be a completely professional environment...

...Dani Ric bucking the F-trend though... I was still laughing after the intro had finished roflroflrofl
It’s typical Netflix. They push the boundaries with swearing etc. I enjoyed Designated Survivor and when Netflix took it over, it became full of swearing.

Watched the series now, enjoyed it all - maybe not quite as much as series 1 but close enough.

It remains facsinating to see the behind the scenes stuff the teams go through during a race weekend. That's the golden ingredient and all the series needs to remain popular imo. The Steiner moments are just a bonus smile

Albon's mum jailed for fraud back in 2012, never knew that. Wonder how much of it paid for his career.
I had no idea about this either, he did come across very well in that episode - Had me rooting for him despite having an "interesting" mother.
Less so from me. Privately educated in the UK, criminal Thai mother who was still trying to defraud HMRC after she'd been caught and he still picks Thailand to represent.

As much as Hamilton is difficult to like I'd love it if he kept going for another ten years to cover off some of the younger guys that have had a 4 or 5 year head start on him in F1.

As the episode shows without the support of Thai business he wouldn't have made it to F1, makes sense that he would race under that nationality, he'll get loads of support/coverage potential deals from Thailand rather than just being another UK driver as well.

His mothers choices have no baring on his integrity and I find it strange that people would try and hold that against him, I hope he continues to perform well as he did last year.

Also Red Bull is a Thai invention so probably very good in their home market to have a Thai driver.

I am very impressed by Albon's showing in this series. In contrast to some of his peers, who act like they're hyperactive 13 year old kids , he is mature, ,articulate and endearingly grounded . He also doesn't pepper every f***ing sentence with f**ing this and f***ing that either .

I’m annoyed that they gave William Storey so much air, he’s a chancer and a fantasist.

I am increasingly skeptical about Gunter Steiner’s management style. I wish he were playing it up for Netflix but we’re lead to believe that he isn’t.
whether it is or it isn't, it feels a bit played out now. The fk this fk that fking fk you was funny in season 1 as it contrasted the professional side of team bosses we're used to seeing and made him human but it's a cheap fking laugh and I found it just a bit cringy this time around.

Oh, and I'm not surprised Kevin smashed his door in too. Go kev, is he on PH?

I too feel this series is a bit too polished than the last. S1 felt like being a fly on the wall, where every episode so far feels like being spoon-fed a story. It's like watching multiple episodes of Days of Thunder.

It also struck me how editing could make almost any story possible. I'm sure I hear mid-sentence audio cuts on voiceovers, etc. Who knows whar's really being seen. Kvyatt so far notable by his absence.

Gasly looks like his face just dIdn't fit in RB. He had a great season with TR but the attitude of his race engineer in the show seemed like he was actively trying to demolish his confidence.

also disappointed with this season.

First season actually felt like a documentary behind the scenes type of thing. this just feels a bit like the discovery channel shows that make everything dramatic and just feels a bit fake.

the chronography feels a mess to me, jumping forward and backwards in the season following teams, Im sure season 1 was at least in some kind of order.

This is doing my head in. It's really badly put together and has no flow whatsoever, nothing leads into anything!

It kinda does - just not the “normal” flow.

The problem is there are 11 timelines and 11 stories they need to intertwine together. The season of races and then the seasons of all 10 teams. I like the fact that it’s like a window to the most salient points for each team throughout the year.

Yeah, thinking about it it's hard for them to create something like this when everyone watching it knows what's coming, everyone knows what happened last year.

Did some driver's and teams not want to participate in it? There was no Lando, no Kvyat, no Alfa and no Sport Penis....

Lots of pressure on Gasly from the pit radio, Horner mocking him was a bit off he knows how to drive but clearly he feels better in the Toro Rosso than the RB car (and the RB team)

I think season one was a better series than this it seemed to go in to more depth with the drivers covered and showed the human side of the spectacle, (Grosjean's battle with himself as an example) the new one feels like the teams/drivers are now more aware and ready for the cameras, the first one felt more "real" to me.

Gunter was a star of the show again but the show lacked things like the "rock star" moment of S1 plus the constant needle between irritable and Horner...that was great to watch.

Chap on reddit had all of Gasly’s radio chatter for that race on a video compilation, the reality wasn’t as harsh as the editing made out. There is some pretty significant editing going on imho, for narrative.

Also, the tabloids are utter bells as we already suspected.

He’s Italian....but right from the north where I think they basically see themselves as Austrian? Or maybe their own identity. They speak german up there anyway!

He speaks fluent German and the banter between him and Toto suggest he's North Italy as he referred to himself as being from mountains

He’s from Sud Tyrol (above the lakes & Trentino on the modern Austrian boarder).

Remember ‘modern’ Italy is still a pretty young country for western European standards, Romans are Romans (and so on).

The area where he is from is 60/70km from what we know is Modern Austria, and let’s just say (you can do your own research on the region about the old days and specifically 1918 & 1945) it’s been an area of importance in recent modern history.

It’s pretty much 99% German speaking region with the road signs in German, hence the accent.

Agree this season didn't feel as good as season 1, for me I think because there was less about the driver's backgrounds etc, but then again they've covered quite a few of them already and they also have to keep some for next season presumably...

For what it's worth, I have heard from someone that previously worked with Steiner for a while, that the only person that said fk more than Guenther was Niki Lauda, so I don't think he's putting it on for effect hehe

Enjoyed it, but no [Spolier] lando, no Alfa Romeo, no racing point and no mention of Charlie Whiting al all [/Spoiler] was a shame.
