Lots!
seconded.

Re point 3, the hardest thing for me is to get the braking right without being able to feel any of the real braking forces.
That said, with iracing if you race mx-5 or skippies then there are loads of people doing it so you'll normally get thrown into a group around the same level as you so you don't need to be world-class to have fun.

I’ve dual booted my Mac mini but it fails the iRacing minimum spec for video card.

Now searching for eGPU’s
What are the other specs? Had a mate burned as his laptop couldn't exchange information back and fourth from the external GPU half as fast as it could process it..

NB: typical Mac gaming response "just buy a proper PC" biggrin (you've probably heard that before...)

Let's not forget that you need solid internet connection, no point spending 000's on hardware if you are going to spawn in and out of the game.

I play F1 2019 on a PS4 and find it’s all I need. It’s as much of a simulator as I need. Once you turn all assists off and select manual gears and get into the car setup side of things it is pretty involved. For those who dismiss this as a game and not a simulator can you explain why?

I use a Logitech g29 wheel and pedals and have been playing it a lot over the last few weeks. I always considered myself to be a pretty good driver and was pretty good a karting in my younger days but I cannot get anywhere near course lap records playing this. It’s made me realise I am probably just an average driver when it comes to racing.

The most annoying thing is online races where other players out brake themselves and punt you off the track at turn 1. I now spend most of my time chasing lap times.

It was good to see ex-Williams drivers Button and Villeneuve do so well, Villeneuve with just an Xbox controller pad.

I started off a couple of weeks ago with a passing interest in this 'virtual racing'. fast forward to now and I've built a gaming pc (with no clue how to originally), bought a playseat and G29 wheel. Very slippery slope
whatever you do, don't start looking at widescreens or you'll end up with this...

Whatever you do, don't start looking at the subject of FOV as it might make you want to cry with this setup.

Technically according to school of FOV in sim racing your FOV is too big and not realistic. But if you're enjoying it then I guess that's what matters. Hence why I said don't look into it haha.

it's set by iracing - you enter your screen size and distance from the screen and it sets fov for you - so I guess you need to have a word with them.

I accidentally googled "CRG9" today.

Oops.

I thought I'd go looking for some non-iracing fov calculators and they're all pretty much the same so still wondering why you say the fov is too big. The monitor is 120cm wide and I'm sitting 75cm from it which gives a fov around 80 degrees for a flat screen and a few degrees more for a curved screen.

Oh man I told you not to start digging wink

Don't take it that personally, it was a light-hearted yoke. Sorry for causing trouble!

no problem, I only got the monitor yesterday so good to make sure it's setup right.

yeah, you probably don't want to do that because you know it's so much better than what you've got.

I've had some surprisingly good races but I just wish I knew where the aliens were finding another 5-10s.

and getting back on topic - Indycars are starting soon.

I’m watching now - between this series and the IMSA shows on Thursday F1’s offering is being made to look like a bit of a joke.

I wonder if the big teams are scared to have a level playing field.
I can't think of any other reason why they're missing such an obvious opportunity to keep their fans and sponsors happy.

It's on again.

Lando is very unlucky isn't he.
