My view for the weekend here in bancarta Norte. Have an excellent view of cars coming down the straight, and through turns 1 and 2
Slightly delayed getting in, no liquids allowed through the gates, so had to take water and sun cream back to the car. Hat needed tomorrow
25mins to FP1
Track looks awesome on the TV pictures, hopefully we’ll see the cars out quickly and lap records smashed.

Recently rewatched the Chris Harris 'holy trinity' video in order to show the gf what Portimao was like.
Just as a funny comparison, the P1 / 918 / LaFerrari were doing low 1:53s, the P1 on Trofeo R tyres did a 1:51.xxx
Presumably we're expecting them to break into the teens?
Low teens I would think. Just as a funny comparison, the P1 / 918 / LaFerrari were doing low 1:53s, the P1 on Trofeo R tyres did a 1:51.xxx

That’s an awesome video! Some internet guy and a couple of his mates managed to scoop every car magazine in the world, getting those three cars together at the same track. Just as a funny comparison, the P1 / 918 / LaFerrari were doing low 1:53s, the P1 on Trofeo R tyres did a 1:51.xxx

Yes, the F1 cars will be well into the teens by Saturday afternoon, Sainz already doing 1’20.7” straight out of the box.

I've been to Portimao, sadly only as a spectator but I remember thinking why on Earth doesn't F1 come to this amazing circuit. It looks awesome and the roller coaster nature of it shows the cars at their best, looking forward to (hopefully the first of many here) the race weekend 👍

I’ve watched all sorts here over the years including the A1 GP, and a wide variety of cars in the Algarve Classic which I was fortunate enough to blag a press pass for, so I had access to the whole of the infield. It truly is spectacular, and am just so pleased it’s finally got the weekend it deserves!
Have left the circuit now, will watch FP2 from the villa on Sky while I transfer photos to my laptop... aiming for an early start tomorrow to be back up there at 9.30am for the first GT Race and then stay till the end of Quali.

Now that both RP drivers have had the plague is he just there for other teams/eventualities? I hope he's stalking the other drivers monitoring their coughs.
There’s a lot of false negatives with the tests last week, (inc Strolls trackside), a lot to play for with P3 in the WCC, no chances taken.. & to be fair Stoffel has been there most weeks for Merc/McGassing Station | Formula 1 | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
