I’m looking forward to the approach over two days, the track is pretty bumpy and narrow and there’s lots to be gained from running the curbs (of which proved fatal for the front runners in the Austrian races).What's for sure, is that the teams will not be able to spend 8 hours on Friday night running simulators back at the factory!
Although there’s super long flat out section say 1.3 km (including DRS) approaching a hard braking section, I expect the leading teams to run maximum downforce as the track will not be rubbered in.
Fully expect a Merc 1/2 in Quali.. and Max to be 2nd row. Bottas for Pole.
However I think we will see a mixed 3/4/5 row (with casualties in Q2), as teams will gamble running one car max downforce the other min drag for straight line speed, I can’t see this being 2 by 2.
I’m expecting Dani Ric to make the most of this weekend with a podium (at least top 5), although the very in form Gasly, who has made up 23! places from Quali to race finish so far this yr to be up there in frankly a car that is not as race quick as the Renault & McLaren IMO.
On another note it’s been a while since we have been at Imola (and a while longer before we go back), I fully expect something in remembrance for Roland and Ayrton.

I think Ted said in his notebook that the local authorities had changed their minds and it was now no spectators even though tickets had been sold. He was urging people to check before they travelled.I saw tickets on sale a few weeks ago ,also at way more sensible prices than Mugello were .
I hope they have tidied some of the bleachers up ,this time last year some of them were over grown with weeds .
Some lucky people live overlooking the circuit .

Very good point. A ban on simulators and sending telemetry back to the factory during race weekends would save a ton of money and make things a lot more interesting. We’d soon see who can set up a car rather than who has the most accurate sim model. Cost cap?A bigger problem is the lives of those people. They tend to retire from the travelling part because of family commitments. With two crews they'd have 12-15 weekends away rather than 20-22 currently.
It's not an insurmountable problem.
For a comparison, in America, the World Series Baseball teams play 162 games per season.
