If I could be bothered to I'd put some money on Verstappen to win. The bookies seem to be offering odds based on a typical Merc performance.
Dunno... He has two Mercedes to beat! Besides, sometimes on weekends such as this the top teams overthink the strategy and a random ends up winning... In a way max and the mercs are in a tricky place here because if they have to leave the racing line to attack/defend they'll be on a totally green bit of tarmac. I offer no predictions other than I doubt it'll be a standard podium this time

Did Hamilton do any speed runs in FP1? Mercedes have put a picture out of his car with flow vis paint on the halo
Also, both championships are theirs, the cars are similar next year, there are only a few races left, and they are still treating aero on the cars.
Anyone know why Hamilton didn't go out in FP1 until towards the very end of the session? Also, both championships are theirs, the cars are similar next year, there are only a few races left, and they are still treating aero on the cars.

Indeed. Very high chance of rain at some point between now and end of quali.
I'm glad we've got another oddball race weekend though. The championship is already sewn up so might as well enjoy a weekend that shuffles the grid before the race and leave the teams clueless as to the best strategy during the race
Even with no rain someone's bound to go off as they push during quali. That alone could end or mess up a session and randomise the grid for the gp. No way are all 20 cars getting through in the rightful order..
One thing we did see today, as we saw to a lesser extent at Portimao, was the tyres taking ages to warm up, but the softs being only good for a few laps, and pole in Q3 coming off the mediums. Expect some funky strategies in qualifying, but expect everyone to start the race on the softs - unless they fancy getting eaten up in the first couple of laps. Portimao was the race where two McLarens were in front of two Mercedes, and Kimi passed half the field by being the only one below 10th to take the softs at the start.

The Sky coverage is slowly edging towards unlistenable for me now when Johnny ‘sort of’ Herbert is on. He said ‘sort of’ 3 times in one sentence today during FP2. fking stop it you fking annoying !!!!!!!!!!!
Johnny Herbert is the least of Sky F1 production. Do you not hate Crofty shouting and looking for controversy and jeopardy all the time? RichB said:

I’m personally one of the few that likes his shouting. Ok sometimes he does shout for prolonged periods when he shouldn’t and yes he makes mistakes but I still like him. I also get why people find him annoying, sometimes I find it annoying tooMiniMan64 said:

They now have road cars lapping the circuit overnight to put rubber down. You couldn't make 2020 up if you tried.
Important info missing....what cars? ..However I have driven at night in Turkey, so I'm sure finding wanna-be race drivers isnt a problem. (many of them didn't need lights either)

Bit of fun by the teams?Hopefully someone else may remember this more clearly, but were there not problems at Silverstone after resurfacing where the oil from the tarmac came to the surface? Perhaps the idea is less to lay down rubber and more to try and absorb the oil?
I may have this totally wrong of course!
