He was only a short time hire, until James Key could join the team. Be interesting to see if Fry appears elsewhere (Williams?)LaurasOtherHalf said:

I thought mclaren already had a wind tunnel and that they used their lake for cooling of the tunnel?
The new wider F1 cars don’t fit in most people’s wind tunnels, hence why most use Toyota’s in Germany.https://www.espn.co.uk/f1/story/_/id/27032068/mcla...

Expect big spending before the cap.
McL wind tunnel is on the to do list ..
Actually it's not an issue of full size cars not fitting in the tunnels but it's close. The McLaren tunnel is built for 50% scale models but the F1 regs allow for testing with up to 60% scale models (full size testing is barred) so they use the Toyota tunnel primarily for that reason.

I was if the understanding that the issue isn't so much the size of the cars, but the recent trend to push the front wing endplate vortex outside the wheels, so they need to measure what's going way beyond the width of the car.Seems like a very good decision to retain the two and announce it now, they are performing well and knowing they are in the car for at least another year and a half will help keep the focus on moving forward.
It’s a breath of fresh air to see the laid back relationship the two have also, I wonder if that will change as the results creep further upwards?

McLaren are keeping Lando and Carlos for 2020.
Not really surprising given the (good) performances to date this year.
