Probably knew, like most of us without blinkers that he was a bit lucky, and his teammate was faster...
Yes and yes, Leclerc did get shafted again. No argument there. But still, he crossed the line first and there was not a hint of a happy reaction.[/quoteCLC on the radio 'we will talk about what happened with the team after the race'.
Sorry mate, you've won a couple of races. Don't get cocky.
He didn’t come across cocky at all, in fact I thought in the post race interviews he acted with maturity.
And yup he handled himself very professionally afterwards, but as I've said several times, leclerc is going to be one of those drivers that really knows and uses his politics, you can see little glimpses of it in him. I may well end up hating him!
But it's easier to just frame it as Ferrari elevating their "number 1 driver", despite the fact that LeClerc is the future for them, and Vettel has no practical chance of winning the championship.
From their perspective the outcome was perfect. Vettel got a much needed emotional boost, LeClerc wasn't blatently hamstrung. People have got short memories and seem to have glossed over Bottas being explicitly asked to play second fiddle.

Personally I think "they did it because Seb is their no. 1 driver" is the least likely reason for the call.
track position and maximum possible points for both cars is the most likely. And as Nico says, it wasn't a gift. Seb put in hot laps, without spinning off, when it mattered, and made the most of the opportunity.

Nico Rosberg's review was interesting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnCUWPTPch0
Basically Vettel had a monster outlap and CLC didn't have a great in lap.
A good drive from Vettel in Hockenheim and Singapore.Basically Vettel had a monster outlap and CLC didn't have a great in lap.
One more before he retires would be nice for him.

Hindsight is 20/20. Ferrari had to cover off Hamilton in some fashion, or felt like they had to. None of us were trackside, saw the telematics, or had the pressure of making a split-second decision that could make or break a race. If they had guessed wrong we would perhaps not even be looking at a Ferrari 2, let alone a 1-2.

The situation with Bottas was a bit like Ferrari, if Bottas wasn't slowing down, they would have ended up the race with positions 4 and 6 instead of 4 and 5. Looking at Ferrari's form they secured a few more points for the constructors title and like Ferrari, no driver is bigger than Mercedes. But it's easier to just frame it as Ferrari elevating their "number 1 driver", despite the fact that LeClerc is the future for them, and Vettel has no practical chance of winning the championship.

did Sebastian vettels mum make that?He qualified no higher than 3rd, and scabbed his one win as a gift due to a tactical decision by the team to fk over the guy who deserved it
King of the streets, yeah okay then
Don’t understand...
“and scabbed his one win as a gift due to a tactical decision by the team to fk over the guy who deserved it”

now I'll admit I ain't fan.no.1 of the vettel but I give dues where they due, and I know its all bks anyway, but you don't think you have to be just a teensy bit more impressive than Seb has before you start to think about whether you'll consider bestowing a title like "king of the streets"? (Like a single win (that wasn't gifted) or even a pole might be a start?)Don’t understand...

And yeah I'm aware of the points... Of which 58 is about 74% of what was avalaible.

I think LeClerc has now learned the same lesson Mark Webber did with the 'Multi 21' incident - don't trust Vettel to honour any agreement
I don't think LeClerc will do it again.......... I think Vettel saw Russia as being an opportunity to re-assert himself as the No1 over LeClerc. I don't think it worked!!! I'm sure LeClerc see's himself as the No1 in the team and Vettel as the weaker driver. I don't think it will take long for Ferrari to come to that opinion as well.
If they carry on blowing hot air up Vettel's arse they'll miss even more opportunities!
A few wins and Leclerc is the new messiah, I remember him spinning and crashing in Germany shame sky and the rest of the f1 community can't look past the last race.
I'm no Vettel fan but the guys a god dam 4 times world drivers champion, don't luck into that 4 times, yes once like Button but 4 times plus give me a break plus he beat the PH messiah at the time Alonso.

The same place 5 times world Champion Hamilton did and others too. The drag strip with all the rubber down was like ice in that rain. Some very silly talk here. Nobody ‘lucks’ into an F1 WDC. You can be fortunate to be in the right place at the right time such as Button but there is still rather a lot of work to do!
Vettel absolutely did not ‘luck’ into 4 titles. The Red Bull was not dominant for the whole of that period, but when it was, Vettel tended to be flawless.
Is he as good as Hamilton? No. Still a great driver and a big part of me would love to see him back to his best.
