Frank Williams viewed most drivers as disposable, save Jones and Senna.
He was pretty fond of Montoya too if I recall correctly.
I was thinking of JPM having watched Rossi kick the front from under Marquez. In Slow Mo Rossi seems as cool and nonchalant as Montoya when he stepped from the car having taken out that jet powered track dryer.

Watching qualifying on the BBC I did think it was a shame that Mercedes didn't invite Button to do a few laps in a better car in those conditions.

It won't happen of course but it's an interesting idea. Has this sort of thing ever happened before?
In 1973, with the WC in Jackie Stewart's bag, and knowing that he was retiring, Ken Tyrrell asked Stewart if, circumstances dictating, he would let Francois Cevert through to win the final race of the year, the US GP. Stewart's answer was that he'd need to think about it. Cevert was killed in practice and so it became a moot point. I don't think Stewart ever said what he would have done, but IIRC he said Tyrrell's request did shake him up a bit.

Surely the best use of Hamilton to the team now is to act as driver no 2 to Rosberg so he can secure 2nd in the championship
If Rosberg can't do that in the Merc without help from his team-mate he doesn't deserve second place.
Can't help but think your opinion of Alonso not helping Hamilton in the final couple of races in 2007 is somewhat different..........
