I was under the impression that Lauda was an atheist. Obviously, I was wrong.

Agreed Kewy

Although I am ashamed to say I clicked on the story, and felt a little sad, especially when seeing how upset his family was.

What gets me was when the servicemen's families were filmed here in the UK, for some reason I never thought that was fair.

I guess most of us would never have to deal with a known person dying, it must be horrific, bad enough when it is someone close to you.

But the outpouring of love surely benefits all, and he was a much liked man.

Yup. Very genuine too. Welled up a little at a couple of places, ended with a smile though.

I’ve been on a train and saw the first 2mins and have left the rest for later as could see me going that way - I got as far as the interviews and photos with the catering girls to realise how loved he was and to watch once home.

That's a strange outlook - surely most of us will grieve for somebody close before we pass away ourselves?

As opposed to a "normal" close friend or family member dying, I took it to mean a close friend or family member in the "public eye"

Indeed. Unless one has no family or friends it’s inevitable.

All being well, we'll all see our parents off. It's pretty disastrous otherwise.
