The new cars are being shown starting next week. The paint jobs will probably look rubbish. Here's a blank car to Photoshop away with and do our own. Posting this from the phone, I'll have a go later this weekend.

I know this is all a bit if fun but it's amazing how people think that a different colour scheme will make the car a good-un !

I clearly remember how last year posters were making categorical decisions on how good a car would be from its looks.

One such wrote off, on first seeing it at launch, the Mercedes. I remember thinking what a dick he must have felt even just after the first test but I could never find the post again.

I wonder if this year will be the same?

Word on the (f1technical.net) street is that the Mercedes cars will have a chrome body and chrome wheels (Lewis Hamilton bling edition ). McLaren won't be chrome or silver as Honda don't want any Mercedes association (fair enough), so Honda white/red or McLaren orange, the McLaren Movistar/Telefonica sponsorship won't happen.

Whatever livery McLaren come up with for 2015, it has to be better than the awful, boring black & grey of last year's car.

I expect them to include some references to the white / red liveries of the previous McLaren / Honda era. Without the fag packet design, obv.

This is one colour I wouldn't mind for McLaren, Volcano Orange.

Ah, but look at Williams. One year with a good livery and they were back at the front...
