Staying in Lake Como for Italian GP - Is it Doable?

We're thinking of going to Monza next year and combining it with a stay in the Lakes. Can anyone offer any advice on this?

Looking at the transport options on www.muoversi.regione.lombardia.it/planner/home.do
it would appear to be 22 minutes by boat from Bellagio to Varenna-Esino from where I believe we could get a direct train to Monza taking 49 minutes. How long is the walk from Monza station to the circuit

Also does anyone have any recommendations for places to stay in either Bellagio or Menaggio near to where the boat docks?
