I know it won't happen but now Mercedes have sealed the constructor's championship and Hamilton has secured his third title why wouldn't Wolff swap Hamilton out for the remainder of the season and give Pascal Wehrlein a run now the DTM season has finished? He has stated he would like to help him into F1 and if nothing else it would be a nice reward for winning the DTM.

To be honest I think it would be brilliant if Pascal came in and showed Nico up, even better if Hamilton acted as Pascal's driver coach for the races. Hamilton would still attend the races and do more media stuff so that would keep the sponsors happy but the point EagleMoto4-2 raised that he's never won the Brazilian GP means I think he would/should take place in that race to set that record straight.

It won't happen of course but it's an interesting idea. Has this sort of thing ever happened before?
I don't think a champion has ever stepped aside but teams have swapped drivers out mid season plenty of times for other reasons, Manor are doing it race by race with Rossi & Merhi just now.
