My Mille Miglia trip and much much more.
Discussion
I have just spent 2 weeks in Italy and France packing in as much motoring related visits
as is just about possible.
Got a 8am ferry Dover to Calais to get a good bit of France covered in day one.
First stop in Reims for the Reims Champagne car museum, epic fail ,the map i have printed
off web isn't much use in finding it so i give up and have a look at the old Reims circuit
pits and grandstands and take the same pics that everybody else seems to take.
I shall be posting bit by bit due to complicated PC issues.

Carry on further south for next morning trip to car museum, much easier to find near Lyon.
Early morning pic by the river Saone
Some of the unusual exhibits
A 2CV prototype that survived not destroyed during WW2
A one off made by an Italian working in Lyon called Marsonetto
Info on this claimed it was used by Adolf Hitler
A pope mobile or "Papamobile" in French

Head off for the "Tunnel de Frejus" and Turin,Italy.
Held up for 1.5 hours with closed road before getting to tunnel, this isn't going too well so far.
Also had a near miss with a flying rock which narrowly missed my windscreen but left a small
scuff on the scuttle panel.
Get to Turin in time to visit the National motor museum,i think Tuesdays is late closing.
It's quite dark in there and everything is very displayed very arty.
This new Fiat 500 is completely covered in 1/43 models of itself ???????
Self critical Panda tincan with rolled back roof

There was also a special display of Gianni Agnelli's personal cars most of which are a bit special
Fiat 130 "Maremma"......a coupe converted into estate.
Ferrari "Speedway"......a bit of a Porsche Speedster rip off
Delta Integrale soft top
Fiat 130 saloon converted to estate with extra woodie panelling and wicker roof rack
You thought a standard Multipla was odd looking.....
Musem is just down the road from Lingotto, the old factory and Italian Job film location.

Next day i am on the way to the 50th anniversary Lamborghini tour at Forte dei Marmi
via the scenic mountain route and i take a similar pic to 2008 next to huge block of marble
to show just how big it is.They also don't appear to strap them onto openback lorries which
looks very precarious on the winding roads.
Next to the meditteranean
Get ready for Lamborghini overload. There must have been 100 cars here.
This red Countach was shunted up the back by a car you will see in a minute,i chatted to
the passenger for a bit and the Austrian Countach driver had a lockup moment and "BANG"

There is a lot more rotting pics ,i will put them in the rotting classics thread tomorrow.
I only spotted 5 Barchettas whilst in Italy which was surprising.
This one was in a shop window.I think "occasione" means available for hire.
It wasn't in any way a motoring related shop.
This is the "Ponte de la Madalena" also known as "Devils bridge" at Borgo a Mozzano
It's a famous landmark of Tuscany,from the 14th century.
It's now Friday 10th and a trip to Maranello
This will be my 4th visit to the Galleria Ferrari but well worth it this time as they are
displaying their most exclusive, expensive and extreme cars.
599 XX
The famous "Breadvan".....even labelled as such at the museum.

This 355 is an engine test rig, look at the length of the rear, presumably they can put
any V12 also in the car originally designed for only a V8
This is a suspension test car
La Ferrari, stupid name, stunning to look at
Off to nearby Modena for the new Ferrari museum, which i was little disappointed with TBH
Almost exclusively old F1 cars not enough road cars,
The only Cosworths spotted whilst away. There is usually 1 at this garage but now there's 2
And just down the road a British reg Rover "planted"
Thursday 16th and it's Mille Miglia time so a drive to Brescia and the weather is appalling
Visit the Mille Miglia museum first where i also pick up a very nice, glossy programme for the
MM with all participants listed [free too]
Oh,only uploaded 2 from there.
