In seriousness, finesse is everything. If you can make your inputs - steering, clutch, throttle, braking and gearchanges - smooth, precise, mechanically considerate and well-timed, everything else just falls into place. Treat every single thing you do with the controls as a little test to see how well you can achieve what you're trying to do, and you'll quickly become a very good driver.
Just assuming "that's the brake, I'll press it when I want to stop" is enough won't get you far. It's an art, all of it!

You will start with a s
t car but that doesn't mean you can put some 22's on it and a big exhaust. In fact there's a law against it so don't bother!
Also caps are banned unless in a convertible in winter.
Watch out for white vans, pov spec BMW's and VAG's.
Don't buy 'P' plates they just mean that you shouldn't really have passed and people will take advantage.
