Integra Type R vs Renaultsport clio 182/172
Discussion
Hi guys,
sorry to do another what car! i asked a similar question recently but am now ready to buy and have narrowed my choices abit.
Basically i have a 20 mile daily commute down A/B roads plus abit of town driving and view driving as something to enjoy so want something fun to drive!
I want something:
Fun to drive
Interesting
Practical enough for daty to day living
I can work on myself as i am abit of a diy mechanic.
The way i see it is:
Integra has better seating position and wont depreciate if looked after.
clio is more modern which would be nice after a string of 80's cars but will depreicate abit more.
Any experiences are welcome.

I've owned a 172 and an integra
When I bought mine a decent integra was a fair bit more than a decent clio 172 and I can imagine if anything the gaps widened a bit.
Integra is a superior car but both are good fun & cheap to run.
How much are you looking to spend? I suspect if you looking at sub £3k then a clio 172 in good condition may be a wiser purchase than a past it's best integra.

Used to have a Dc2 and 182 cup at the same time, the Integra is a more special car to drive hard and is fine when just being used for commuting in.
Clio you sit too high up and they are nasty inside.
Clio will be a fair bit newer but the honda's are incredibly reliable even with big miles it's just rust you need to look out for ( leading edge of bonnet and rear arches on the integra)

A decent DC2 costs a lot more than a Clio 172/182 I only paid £1800 for mine and I would not say it was a bad example by any means a decent integ will be double the price...
Will say with the clio's would meet all of your needs can be tracked as well if you want as the brakes as standard are very good also if drive sensibly can achieve 35mpg easily enough not sure how they compare to a integ however but I am loving my 172 so far

Fabia VRS diesel Brilliant mix of performance, practicality and economy (mildly mapped of course)
VTEC is manic, fatiguing and difficult to use easily. Can't comment for the Clio
Seeing as we're suggesting completely inappropriate cars, have you considered a Land Rover Defender 110? They're very good off road and have an timeless design.VTEC is manic, fatiguing and difficult to use easily. Can't comment for the Clio

What's your hang up on diesel's? You can't have been near a VRS. I and everyone who has been in the fun and eager to please Fabia have been extremely impressed. As much fun as my 330bhp Impreza (new age)Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
