Woke up this morning to the bizarre realisation that I'd inexplicably swapped my beloved black SLK for a three year old mid grey BMW 330i, petrol, auto, beige leather, high spec. Not only that, but I hadn't bothered to confirm that it had any service history before I bought it!

Now there's nothing wrong with a 330i, far from it, but it's not for me. What had I done!?

Then I woke up properly, and realised it was all a weird dream.

Anyone else have bizarre car dreams, or should I be seeking therapy? biggrin

I have them frequently, though I usually wake up from one disappointed, rather than relieved.

Was it sold by a lady who was really a man?

Did you HPI check it?

Please don't tell me it was on a SORN and you left it slightly on the pavement?

I once had a dream that I was driving an e46 M3 convertible with no brakes around town. It was pretty scary!

Well, last night I had a dream that I lost my dog whilst out on a walk, and it was "driving" me mad.

That's about as close as I can get.

I occasionally have dreams where I am driving a very nice car...Ferrari, Lamborghini, my old 106 GTi and just before I get the chance to boot it I wake up. Still great dreams though because I get to sit in some pretty nice exotica! biggrin

Apparently dreams are just a tool that your subconscious uses to keep you asleep when you would other wise wake up. When you wake up desperate for a pee you will probably have had a vivid dream just before or when your little bundle of joy is screaming at 0200 in the morning you wake up with the noise as part of a fading dream...weird

The best dream I ever had was one where I was in a real life version of Grand Theft Auto III. It even included me breaking into a new level by stealing a bin lorry and breaking down a wall with it. Marvellous.

When I was about 18 I had a dream that I owned a blue BMW 850CSi and the dream was so convincing that for the first 10 seconds or so after waking up I actually thought I owned one, bizarre and gutting when reality caught up with me and I still had to make do with my 1.8 Mk2 Cavalier GLi.

I sometimes have a real odd dream of a handbrake failing on a gentle slope and then being forced to watch my car very very slowly fall off a cliff.

I can never work out why I dont just get in the car and use the foot brake.

If I ever get one it's that I'm driving a car which is far worse than mine and falling to pieces as I drive along. Or driving my car and I crash it or something. I dreamed a young lad nicked my MR2 and as he was driving away it blew up.

I had a dream that I inherited a mansion with a whole underground carpark full of cool cars... but I couldn't find the keys to any of them.

Then I got distracted because I was supposed to be making sunday roast and all the guests started turning up, I couldn't find the kitchen in this house and I hadn't even gone to the shops yet to buy the ingredients.

I have weird dreams silly

My dreams tend to be where I grew up, and regularly see a burgundy Jensen Interceptor parked up when I'm roaming around Leytonstone High Road in my dreams. cool

I've had a few dreams about cars, never quite a nightmare.

Most recent car dream I've had was that I somehow managed to buy back my old Alfa. That was a great dream.

Closest I've come to a car nightmare was an advert run by VWSA in the early 1990s, which was set in a town where every single car was a Citigolf. A friend I was with at the time commented that the advert is "one of Alfanatic's nightmares", which would be pretty close to the truth. I've never liked the Citigolf, and if I had a dream about a town full of them, it would have been a nightmare.

I sometimes have dreams that my car was crashed or stolen, and I wake up the next morning all miserable, then I look outside, and everything is fine with the world again!

I have also had many that involve selling my car and buying something totally crap for the same money.Rarely have any other car dreams TBH but this one crops up quite often which is very strange as i tend to keep most of my cars for a good few years.

I dreamt the other night that I was a cop, and I was hunting down local villains and checking whether they were wearing V6 or V8 under pants. No idea why, and more than a bit confused!

I have a nice recurring dream where I rediscover one of the cars I used to own whilst visiing a lockup garage I used to own. Favourites for an appearance in the dream are my 928, followed by X1/9 and SII Land Rover.

Get this a lot. Last night I dreamt that I left the house for work as normal on a sunny summer day but the main road into work was ice and I had to drive really slowly to get in.
