So the Accord is getting sold - still 50/50 on an M135i so have put it up for sale privately while I debate whether to pull the trigger and chuck it in as p/x.

Put it on for what I thought was a very competitive price on a sound car on Monday but so far not a sniff of a phonecall - not even the dodgy ones want it!

So is this down to the xmas spending everyone is doing or is a 2.0 petrol japmobile just not popular anymore? Not sure if I can link to my advert on Autotrader?

It can take more than a week to sell a car! Mine has been on for 2 months and nada yet. Just be patient or take it to a dealer for p/x

Dreadful photographs. If I was about to spend 4 grand I'd want better photographs for starters. Honestly, are you even bothered about selling it?

This..

Photos are crap and the car is dirty in and out, doesn't inspire confidence.

Get it on Gumtree too, I sold my Toyota Corolla on there no bother.

Figured as much on the pics - new ones going up. It was raining and a camera phone. I left the stuff in the car to show how vacuous the boot is lol

Aside from that though, do the numbers add up? It's a low miler with a very good history. Just trying to get an idea.

At to think, you went to such effort with your advert and pictures.

Pictures I agree - is the text an issue? I detailed the ownership history, the tax and mot, the features and the reason for selling. Does it need war and peace?

Me too, two months on ebay, not a single enquiry, not even a scummy scammer.

As above, clear it out, hoover it out, clean it, polish it and then take some better (and more) pictures of it.

If you can't do that take it round to the nearest hand car wash and pay them to clean it for you.

Even if I was on the look out for a cheap car I wouldn't even pick up the phone with pictures like that.

Is that what they go for I take it? So many more cars I'd have for that outlay.

Also it's a terrible advert, car looks unloved.

All I'd like to know is how this thread is still going when my attempt to offer on my MG ZT before I px'ed was immediately removed by the mods as it was deemed I was advertising.

I didn't even have it for sale with an attached autotrader advert! smile

Anyways, if we're going down that route, I've a good MG ZT, with 163K miles going for £600 if anyone wants it before it gets px'd against a Boxster (assuming the garage ever get the airbag light sorted)! laugh

This.

Take it somewhere bright too and if you have any sunny pictures it will help much more at this time of year. But yeah car sales are much slower in winter as no-one wants to view in the cold and dark.

Ironically the car is in superb condition - I was just in a bit of a rush and have made revisions (waiting for them to go live). Couple of leaves in the footwell and yes a golf trolley - should have removed that.

Thing is this isn't a car for PH. We'd all rather spend 4k on a 330ci I am sure but this is for John and Jane Smith on AT.

People buying second hand still want a slice of that new car feel, I like to see those lines you get in the pile of the carpet when it has been hoovered, the paper mats, no evidence of being pre-enjoyed, needs to look ready to go. If you went in a hotel room and the bed was all ruffled and there was other peoples stuff there would you want to stay in it ?

Price wise it is ok but there is no shortage, to sell quickly it will have to be cheaper, the Accord is a decent car but it isnt a diesel and it isnt on the radar for a lot of punters, I would say they are a cut above the Fords and Vauxhalls but not up with the BMWs etc, for it to fly away I would say £2999, under that three grand barrier but thats a big drop, I tend to drop a hundred a week if something isnt shifting, depending on interest.

Better photos are key, the background counts as much as the car, I was looking at an M3 a few weeks back and it looked nice, but the fact it was plonked on a litter strewn grass verge put me off, would moving the Coke can and and KFC box be that much of an effort, I wouldnt buy a car off someone who thought that was aceeptable, sorry but when I spend ten grand I get to be a bit choosy who I give it to.

That was really what I was asking - does the weather affect it? Normally I would put much more effort in and obv need to!

Wasn't sure about advertising. Can remove the link etc if needed.

apart from the pics id personally say it was about £500 too expensive, last year i bought a 2005 civic type s, with 75k for £2800. i wouldnt have considered yours based on price when i was looking for similar. smile

im also trying to flog the mrs ford ka and not getting any responses. its is disheartening. but they will sell..... eventually.

Run a search how many other cars show a dirty golf buggy in the boot, I can see the point of something in the boot if you are proving it is bigger than it looks but it looks like you grabbed photos you already had.

Good points all round. It's a lovely car and has served me well, I did think the 2.0 petrol would be an issue, shame as the Vtec is a great engine and Britain is diesel-obsessed.

Happy to close the thread - I know what needs doing, thanks all smile

ps if I get a 135 the pics for that on here will be MUCH better lol.
