Possible Tesco Fuel Scam

Note "possible", as I only suspect, but can't prove the following...

When I fill up at most Tesco pumps (U/L, Momentum or Diesel), fuel doesn't feel like it's going into the tank until the meter reads about 10p.

Has anybody else noticed this?

I don't notice any "lag" when I fill at other petrol stations, only Tesco.

I'm pretty sure they're tested at random by trading standards, I'd expect it to have been picked up by now if they were under delivering.

Yeah one of the biggest retailers in the country is really interested in ripping people off by illegal means, I'm sure.

If only there was a department at local councils who inspected petrol pumps to make sure they work accurately

I always use Tesco fuel when filling up locally, never noticed 'pump lag'.

i was in frankley services about five years ago

there was a bloke complaining how he had filled

his car paid when he started i t the gauge said

the same as when he pulled up .

they had just tried a fuel can to check

they said that the tank was empty

so why/how did the pump dials go round?

You can't assume Tesco are honest and transparent because of their size. They recently got caught selling highly flammable furniture with fake safety labels.

Perhaps it's the fuel filling the nozzle first? You must pay for that, too!

At the end of the delivery it obviously flows into your tank, unless your car has overturned, or you have an overhead fuel tank...

They also got away with selling horsemeat and calling it beef. For months, if not years.

How on Earth did they manage to get away with that scam?

Perhaps the nozzle contains 10p worth of fuel the last user paid for?

You can commit offences even if you don't intend to - by failing to make sure things are OK. So if the machine is udner delivering due to a fault and they never repair it or never test it then they could commit an offence.

There is probably a technical reason for OPs issue though.
