BMW M4 v Lotus Exige S V6

Between the two, where would your money go for a 4k miles a year daily driver if given the choice and why?
Only 4K miles a year ??The Lotus (or an Alfa 4C ??)
,or get a cheap Renault Clio 182 as a DD and use the Lotus on the weekends, for trackdays and European trips (Nurburgring, the Alps, etc).
Both around similar money and currently have an E92. Been obsessing over the exige v6 since it was released. It would be second car in the household but my only car as Mrs has the family wagon that we cart the kids around in etc. My current E92 hardly gets used, only to drive to the office and back and the odd run at the weekend.
I am worried I will buy the Exige but not be able to live with it?

How did you arrive at those two? They are quite different!
I've been running an Elise in the same situation as you for the last seven years and have had no regrets. If you don't need to carry lots of luggage, its an ideal daily driver for short non-motorway commutes in my experience. You'll need winter tyres for snow though - cut slicks don't work.

Same with my VX220. 25 mile commute daily and the odd longer trip. It's not missed a beat and I've never regretted buying it as a daily driver.Hmm yeah agree. I have just test driven an M4 and it done nothing for me, in fact I prefer my E92. I borrowed an Exige S Roadster earlier this year and the thing was mental, find myself looking at them every day

Lotus without a doubt.
Faster
Better handling
Cheaper to run
Much less depreciation
Funner
Looks better
More unique
The M4 will be comfier and more refined...
I only have proper experience of the previous gen Exige S, they are brilliant little cars and I would own one given the chance

Gues the trofeo tyres will need changing for winters then

Getting in and out of an Exige is such a ballache.... I've end up taking the roof off mine. Looks rubbish but at least I can jump in and out easy.
SOOOO annoying getting in and out of it... I'd never used mine as an everyday car because of this.
Once in, I can get really comfy. Driven it out to the Ring 10 times now no worries at all.

Do you, per chance, live up to your user name? SOOOO annoying getting in and out of it... I'd never used mine as an everyday car because of this.
