One single thing that makes you think "Class"
Discussion
..Here is my attempt at creating a thread which celebrates the positive side of motoring. There are loads of threads berating people's cars and their driving but not everyone is a total C*ck, so I thought it might be good to highlight cars and driving which more than came up to standard.
So here goes, Friday evening, commuting home on A338 Spur Road out of Bournemouth at 4.45 PM. Busy. I am one of many in the outside lane overtaking a line of slower cars. Guy behind in black car with day time lights on is keeping a very decent distance behind, which is very unusual these days. When I pull over, he cruises past and I see that its a black Renaultsport Megane 265 or 275 Cup (very nice). The guy is then quickly tailgated. Doesn't react, just carries on overtaking, keeping his respectful distance from vehicle in front and then pulls over at the appropriate moment.
I thought "class act mate, you've got a very cool and capable car there, but don't feel the need to show off or intimidate"...

- EDIT** Typo in the title of my thread, not sure how to amend it to "one single thing that makes you think "class" Doh!

It's classy when a powerful car isn't driven like a tosser. No points to prove, power is on tap if needed.
Driving our panda 100hp last week, I overtook a 545, I was a little late so was making reasonable progress. Instead of putting his foot down and leaving me behind to prove a point, the guy carried on as normal, as he wasn't in a rush. The driver of the diesel insignia Infront who I went to overtake had other ideas though.

When I am in the middle lane and closing on an MLM but the guy in the outside lane is going fairly quickly so I don't want to pull out, they then notice I will get trapped and flash to let me out.
Love it when another driver is switched on like this. Although it may mean they think you're going to pull out on them. Either way it shows that they're thinking. Also if nothing is behind me I'll let HGV's etc take my priority at width restrictions etc so they don't have to come to a stop. Always receives a big thumbs up. I won't do it when someone is beind me as they don't expect it.
I had it yesterday on the M11. I'd moved back into lane one and the guy was slowly gaining in lane two (should have being in lane one himself ) held back once I caught up with the HGV in lane one rather than block me in.
People who move out into L3 (provided it is clear) when you indicate in advance of overtaking something in L1. The use of indicators is misunderstood and most people only use them to tell not show intention. Yet people react well to an early signal (as above). We live in a strange world...
Guy pulled into the lane I was in to turn right, it was a small gap but he didn't make me brake and I thought nothing of it, but he still gave me a quick flash of his hazards just in case.
Just a simple gesture, that if more drivers made every now and again might stop some road rage, as an apology instantly calms me down.

People who use unusual cars as daily drivers. Making the choice not to punt around in a barge or euro dieselbox. Cars that require compromises to use daily, but the owners don't recognise any of these perceived issues and love their chariots. The essence of Pistonheads for me. I aim to get to the utopian driving experience of a Caterham as a daily drive, but know my 'bloke points 'may run out at something like an Elise or a TVR. My current daily 986 Boxster really isn't trying hard enough is it!

It's the simple things, isn't it? People correctly and safely using their indicators and watching what they are doing/reacting to others intentions on the motorway is a God send in this day and age.wormus said:

My dad and my uncle just popped round in this (without the ribbons),
That's lovely He has two, my other uncle has one as well, anyway bit off topic but certain classics are just pure class.
I am a sucker for a really nice Silver Shadow, that isnt all filler and white paint.
