What would be the best car in a flood
Discussion
In light of the recent flooding in my hometown and seeing the videos of people driving through them I was thinking what car would be best to cope in such flooding?
I have a P38 which managed fine in the 'shallows' although the water never reached door level.
However I did find this old gem in the classifieds,

which might be a sensible purchase at it seems more rain is expected next week.

If you know what you are doing then something with good off roading capability like a Land Rover defender. Otherwise something sporty so you don't get a false sense of security like the twit in defender on the news recently.
^ This.Ideally with a sodding great big light that comes up on the dash saying "DON'T BE A DICK" as soon as the front bumper touches standing water.

Would be a PITA to drive for the rest of the year though.
Empirical evidence suggests not a Skoda Yeti. MIL manged to remove front licence plate and get 3 inches of water in footwells after an enthusiastic approach to flooded lane. Hilux Surf gives a bit more ground clearance and has been making its way steadily through 12 inch standing water for last few weeks.

By 'car' I presume you mean something normal and available in a dealer? Also, Standard or modified?
Assuming normal and modifications allowed. Any LR product with a snorkel fitted and axle breathers. The defender probably best as there's no carpets to get wet.
