Opinions needed used evoque or new sportage
Discussion
My wife has a yeti which she likes but it's time to upgrade, budget is 15k + the yeti so 20k ish
She has no interest in cars but likes the driving position of the SUV , we went to fords of Winsford which is great to sit in cars as there's no pressure and they hand keys out freely
Sat in a few cars, its nice, until we got to an Evoque, I've never seen her so excited about a car before, to say she loved it is an understatement
Now the dilemma, 22k buys a good spec sportage almost new so 6+ years of warranty compared to a 3-4 year old evoque with no warranty if I buy private or up to 2 years through a LR dealer at a premium
It'll be a long term car possibly for the length of the Kia warranty
So what would you do

I am never that bothered by warranty the only things that seem to brake on my cars are never covered anyway.
A used Evoque is very cheap at £22k so I would be wary.
If she really likes the evoque have a look at the freelander and Discovery too. Second hand these are easier to obtain and cheaper.
Also if the YETI was good take a look at the new one? HK one or whatever trim they call it. Also the Tiguan? soo many to choose from.

Ah what you need here is a Land Wind

not sure they are for sale just yet in the uk (can't think why!) but it would be good for your budget and I'm sure the wife won't be able to tell the difference, especially once you get some genuine Landrover badges stuck on!
Joking aside I would actually go for the sportage; the new face lifted one looks great, they also have surprisingly good residuals and then there is that warranty!
The down side to the Evoque are the mpg, it is not really great which may not be an issue for you but it isn't anywhere near quoted figures. Also the main dealer isn't cheap especially if you are used to the relative reliability and costings from the VAG group.

It's a white 2011 2.0 TDi CR SE , I've had it 8 months , had the big service last month, cambelt , water pump , Michelin tyres with 6mm, just hit 100k but drives like 1/2 that mileage, I'm the second owner.
I wasn't intending to sell it but I've just received a small inheritance so decided to splash out
I agree nothing is likely to go wrong with a Kia but is a 22k Kia at 7 years old and no warranty going to be worth less than a 10 year old Evoque with no warranty
I think they'll probably be worth the same at worst , RR possibly a bit more so running costs may be similar
Though If it were solely up to me we'd be driving a XJ but she couldn't even see the end of the bonnet.
As it's going to be a keeper I'm even considering getting one of the cat D evoques that wants fixing as I know a good body shop that doesn't charge £1500 to spray a wing

This. Shouldn't she be choosing? It's to be her car...
She the most low maintenance woman in the world , if I bought her a 10 year old fiesta as long as it was reliable she wouldn't care , when I say her car , in reality it's ours as my other car is a Maserati 4200 which would be crippling to use on a daily basis She really would be happy with whatever she gets , I want to buy the Evoque but head is saying no
Of the two, I've only driven the Kia and I really like it.
Of course, it has nothing like the showroom appeal of an Evoque.
Depending on how long you keep your cars, both of these are relatively cheap on a four-year lease (at worst comparable to the likely depreciation from new) - maybe £14,600 on an Evoque SE Tech and about £9,600 for the Sportage.
