A blast from the past - 90's AutoTrader
Discussion
I wasted an entire childhood going through the AutoTrader every Thursday and helping my dad pick out cars for his dodgy, bargain-basement garage.
My favourites were the Breaker's Yard and the £500 and under sections.
In an effort to recapture that I've blown an unreasonable (for a weekly mag) amount on a few pristine magazines.
I'd like to share some of that nostalgia as I bet there was a good chunk of you getting these in the late '90s.
Any requests for car prices in Yorkshire in the 90's and I'd be happy to oblige with some photos.

Reminds me of buying with the old man and flicking through the coloured bands to get to ''classic and american cars'' Then next up was the 500 and under section
Like others have said a different time.. I can even remember practical classics having a ''get a free classic'' section and it was always rammed with about 40 cars
Thanks!

As a teenager I used to buy a copy of the Southern Edition of Autotrader and study each car and its relative price. There was one full page advertiser that stood out with his wit and corny lines although I can't remember the name of the dealer. Then I discovered the Northern Edition which was positively a telephone directory - I used to think everyone oop North was a dealer.

fantastic, thanks. ALways annoyed me when "sports and performance" would include Audi 80, BMW 316i etc etc.
My brother did a student needing money stint at AT. He said that people would call up and insist their 316i Sport was a sports car to proudly sit alongside Lotus Esprits and Ferrari 348s. One guy even insisted the S in his Corolla S was for Sports. Innit Bruvvvvvvvvvvv.vikingaero said:

Was that the guy who used to advertise in the monthlies too? Adverts that sort of had three rows of four boxes each with some old money exotica like a Bentley Turbo R with some readers wives-esque descriptions along the lines of "raunchy full bodied lady that likes a drink but goes wild when given a firm hand!"LaurasOtherHalf said:

I spent 2 weeks driving around Kent trying to track down a white BMW 2002 and took my copy into every garage and petrol station in a 10 mile radius of the STD code. It eventually paid off though and the car itself was one I regretted selling for the past 28 years.
If only I could have bought all those £5k e30 M3's and squirrelled them away.
