Toshiba battery 6 minute charge 200 mile range soon...
Discussion
Can't see this in here yet,
Looks very promising
TNO anodes are claimed to double the energy capacity of Toshiba’s current offerings. Initial testing has revealed the new cells maintain “over 90 percent” of their capacity after 5000 cycles with the ability to be rapidly charged, even in cooler temperatures as cool as 14 degrees Fahrenheit (where the charge time increases slightly, to 10 minutes). Perhaps most important is that Toshiba promises that these lithium-ion cells with the TNO anode will be available in 2019.

32kWh in six minutes...
Do the maths.
320kW
415v three-phase, that's 770A.
Yawn, I think only a real thicko wouldn't know that...Do the maths.

So let me be less cryptic... "It's brochureware bks, that is physically impossible here in the real world, where laws of physics apply"

What sort of cable are you going to be carrying in the boot for that?
A thick one? Do the maths.

Yes getting all that power in there in 6 minutes is going to be hard but even so sounds very promising, maybe that's the minimum who says you have to push it that fast?
200 miles in 20 minutes
The life cycle of the battery is also very good news.

I'd imagine it'd have to be more like a couple of solid copper bars, rather than an actual cable. Anything else would straight up melt, or require 50 odd cables.Do the maths.

Only 230A @ 415v, then.
Times how many charge points on the forecourt?

A few of these in service station forecourts running off the tanks will do the job when fast charge EV’s become prevalent.........

Perhaps Im Being stupid here and Im Sure you will tell me if I am but who says you need only one charging point on the car and to charge all the cells in parallel ?Times how many charge points on the forecourt?
Perhaps you can decouple them and charge four banks in 20 minutes with four cables with fewer amps then reconnect the cables in the car?
Yes even If this is bullst and yes there are new battery stories every few months it sounds at least plausible and perhaps charging isn't insurmountable.
Forget 6 minutes, 200 miles for a two hour charge would be fine with me and even make it viable for my current use
GCSE physics based scepticism aside, it is good to hear advancements seemingly being made in battery tech, I do believe, being a massive Father Dougal style optimist that it will get there, not sure where is but it must be somewhere around the point where owning an EV isnt harder and more expensive than owning an IC car, for the bulk of drivers.
I saw a Tesla on a charge point today.
I walked past thinking... What's the fking point?
Gimmick at best. Charging my work phone is a pain in the arse. God knows where you electric driving muppets find the time to wait for a mode of transport to charge up.
200 mile range? Oh yeah baby... Lol. Do you even Venture out of your back yard? Or do you all own a second car fueled by satans fuel for long haul trips?
Anyone heard of Petrol or diesel?????

Kick and scream as much as you like! it's coming like it or not I walked past thinking... What's the fking point?
