Anyone taxed their car in December using the online service?
Discussion
As the title says really.
My wife's VED ran out on 31st December and being a good citizen, I paid for the tax a couple of weeks earlier online on 16th December. It hadn't arrived in the post last week, so I rang them and they advised me:
No such luck![frown](/inc/images/frown.gif)
I'm just going to ignore the 10th January limit (or rather my wife is), but has anyone else experienced delays getting their disc in the post, or is it a load of b
ks?

Not to worry, we've had delays with the post due to the bad weather. It should arrive before 4th Jan, but if it doesn't ring us back and we'll issue a duplicate. Your car can be used legally until 10th Jan, due to the way Bank Holidays have fallen this year.
Fair enough I thought, it's bound to arrive. No such luck

So did you ring them back today?
No, I leave for work before our post arrives and Looness has been out all day too. I'll ring them tomorrow and have a polite rant.Pothole said:

I'll ring them tomorrow and have a polite rant.I am going to ask for a duplicate though, as if it's not made it by now, it could well never arrive. As I said before, I'm not bothered about the theoretical limit of 10th Jan.

I drove for 6 months with a printed page saying I had tax, it had been posted to my old house and I kept meaning to nip down and collect it.When I went to renew it I found out I had actually been driving for 6 months and 29 days, OOPS!
Although the offence is "Not displaying valid tax", the police just check on the computer these days and are unlikley to issue a ticket as long as the car is taxed.
Keep a copy of correspondence from them stating the vehicle is taxed and postage delayed!
