Auction-tastic: Coys At The Autosport/PH Show

We take a look at some of the juicier lots up for grabs at the Autosport International show next weekend

One of the highlights of the Autosport/PistonHeads show held at the NEC in January (roll up for your tickets in a virtual manner at the PH show website) is always the Coys auction.

Last year, our very own RacingPete even got out his wallet, having spotted an old flame in the form of his former Austin-Sprite-turned-MG-Midget historic racing car.

This year we’ve already taken Pete’s wallet away from him, because there are some genuinely tantalising pieces in the sale. Here are just a few of them – the ones that have tickled our taste buds the most. If you fancy a closer look (or even a bid or two) the auction will be held on Saturday 15th January.

1990 Ford RS200 EVO, one of 24. This set the 0-60 record in 1994 at 3.08 seconds, which stood for 12 years, and was originally built for King Hussein of Jordan - £120-140k

Yeah I agree- £60k seems too reasonable for an ex WRC Lancia Delta!

Low Mileage
Regularly Serviced
Good tread on tyres
1 'Careful' owner! lol.

Had a road going one sitting next to me at the Kent meet at the weekend, and reminded me how much I love the look of them- beats ANY hot hatch around.

But I don't think I'll ever get bored of looking at an RS200, so that would be my personal choice.

I saw that Piper at Brands Hatch earlier this year. It's so astonishingly low, it could beat a snake in a limbo dancing competition. Amazing thing. smile

If it wasn't for the ticket price I'd go to the show.

I would have thought so, as the one after it (which loosk like its had abit of tarting up) is going for 10X that much.

If its not, then I may be after one by the weekend biggrin

Works Deltas were going for around 60 grand nearly ten years ago. I would've thought the price would have to be getting on for double or more. That Delta belonged to an Italian friend a long time ago and very lovely it was too.

And that Focus seems a little optimistic. You can buy the 2001 Cyprus and 2002 Acropolis winning Focus for about 90 grand elsewhere.

yep typo!!

the actual car in question is est £25,000 to £28,000 and is also for sale elswhere. The photo is a Lib pic and the actual car has big alloys and is lowered etc. Its a very fast modified car but is far from standard and i dont think it has much in the way of s/history etc... so is more ideal for the speedfreak not the collector

most of the info on the website is a bit flowery to say the least and i for one would very cautious about buying one of the cheaper cars for sale there. Could be bangers in disguise!

Agree.

Coys aren't to adverse to bunging the odd stter through. That no reserve 911 looks ripe for someone taking a hit on

I love them, but be very careful, a bad one could cost at least that much again to put right, if you can find all the parts. That's without finding out what rot is lurking under those sill covers and rear wheel arches. A good one though is still sublime to drive even with the late 80's dash and interior.
