abit off an odd post but what the heck...

driving to MMA last night when i spot a sporty car a few cars ahead driving fairly slowly, but didnt think much to it as it was about 6:30pm and raining. it looked like an mr2 when i caught a glimpse of it and just assumed it was a slightly nervous driver new to the car. but when the cars infront turned off i was greeted with a lovely, gold honda nsxeek only the 2nd time i have ever seen one on the roads but the first time it was going the other way. at a local roundabout i needed the left lane so got a chance to really admire this car while we both waited for our chances to pull outlick

but to my suprise i glance up at the driver to see a lady, in her late 50's early 60's driving and smoking a fag! why would anybody smoke in a car like that and she looked very 'typical' for a woman of her age so was shocked to see her choice was an nsx!

anybody else seem a car and then looked at the driver and couldnt help but think 'do you actually know anything about the car your driving?

There's an old bird (and I do mean old, blue rinse and all) near here that drives a Supra. At 25mph.

A male mate of mine bought a mini. He had no idea it was FWD. Just wanted to be part of the camp fashion show.

Back in the day of Merlin Porsche in Nottingham; they once sold a new 968 to a lady that needed a towbar fitting for her garden trailer.

That's quite classy. Respect to her.

The old woman driving a Supra did make me laugh though.

There used to be a lady where I worked who had a nearly new (at the time - about 1999?) and I think modified Subaru Impreza Terzo - it was glorious, but I never saw her give it an ounce of stick. She just pootled around in it!

I believe she got rid of it after being assaulted in a supermarket car park by a gang of yobs who wanted the keys.. I think either she got away or people came and intervened! Difficult to own something nice sometimes!

She wouldn't if I had an NSX.

General rule of thumb when old people buy cars is that they buy the most expensive/highest spec you can get.

Hence me once selling a Megane R26 to an 78 year old, and the 72 year old in my next village who rocks down to Tesco (1.5 miles away) in her golf R32.

Old people buy what they think/ are told is best. Sad but true.

You'll be old one day, are you going to give up on fast cars when you hit retirement age? (assuming they aren't banned)

Just because you've never seen the driving quickly doesn't mean they don't do it. What if they go for a thrash early Sunday morning then drive sensibly once there is traffic/pedestrians about?

Um. Because they fancy a smoke? The only time I don't smoke in a car is when it's not mine.

I remember a salesman telling me he'd sold an old dear a Clio Williams, because she liked the colour and the 1.2 didn't come in a similar colour.

True.

I've seen many an old codger in a Civic Type R, or an M3.
