Please find someone with a Citroen BX 16v.....
Kitch on here has one!! And lovingly looked after too!! Believe he has just recommisoned it, having owned it for its got to be, 7 years plus now!![wink](/inc/images/wink.gif)
Some awfully common kit being mentioned in here, considering it's a topic for the unusual... not that I'm entirely surprised - completely missing the point of the subject being discussed appears to be a speciality around here these days. (Just look at the chav plates topic for evidence)
Anyway, back on topic.
I'll 2nd the Alfa 33 16v. Crazy, revvy, bouncy little things. Wicked crackle on the over-run, too.
Same engine wasn't quite as fizzy in the 145 1.7 16v. But the 145 Cloverleaf is a good shout - but I'll go with the real rarity, the 146 Ti.
Another couple of Italians... Fiat Bravo HGT - with the lovely 5-pot lump out of the Coupe. (Although I prefer the Marea, which was essentially a Fiat Coupe in your grandfather's suit), and the Fiat 127 Sport... the Strada Abarth already mentioned is another good call.
A couple of Japs for you.
The 1980s angular, breadvan Civic came as a 1.5i S, which was essentially the MkI CRX in a 3-door hatch body.
NIssan Almera GTI (The car they don't want you to drive) was hugely under-rated.
The old RWD Toyota Corolla hatch was a good shout - I think the JDM version was called the 'Levin' and marketed as a Coupe, although it was really a hatch.
And another couple of Hondas - the MkI Integra EX-16 and the Concerto EX-16.

I'll put my vote in for the Daihatsu Avanzato TRxx R4. I always recommend it! its not too hot, more like luke warm, but it's a riot to drive and weighs nothing, it's also quite the underdog and no one expects it to be anything remotely quick as nobody knows what it is.

Good call.![](http://thumbsnap.com/sc/Hg1F4891.jpg)
Very, very rare. Wish I'd bought one when I had the chance back in the day.
Most of my 'unusual' nominations have already been mentioned (Visa GTi, Alfasud, Strada/Ritmo Abarth, ZX Volcane etc) but I'd add MG Maestro (common, but I'd say it would still be considered unusual in real terms), but my trump card which has yet to be mentioned is the Tipo Sedicivalvole (probably spelt wrongly) - never owned one, but they looked quite mean in black...
