Ah, so you know more about these!
All I know is I wanted one! the GT-R was the one to have, but its been so long since I was looking at them I can't even remember the differences between the GT-R and GT-X models. laugh

hmm, how about my Citroen ZX 16v, 1 owner 34K miles and box fresh, the best out of a handful left in the UK.

That's cool - Definitely a rare car too, I haven't seen one for years.

I also think the Mazda 3 MPS is worthy, and my little dirty diesel Fabia, but then I would say that!

Would my metro/a metro GTi be any use? Mine is a R100 GTa but GTi spec(i preferr the look of the 100) and they are often overlooked in terms of performance.

Just seen a Toyota sera on the bypass near me, certainly unusual. Hot? Not so sure.

Nothing like a lambo/gullwing fusion.

A corrado has a hatchback... I know the v5 says coupe, but I'd rather think of them as hot hatches rather than tepid coupe...

It's not a hatchback... And it isn't that hot.

Just realised - this thread is useless without the Alfa Romeo 33 Quadrifoglio Verde. I had one as my first car, brilliant hot hatch!

(here in nearly as rapid 4x4 version)

Some awfully common kit being mentioned in here, considering it's a topic for the unusual... not that I'm entirely surprised - completely missing the point of the subject being discussed appears to be a speciality around here these days. (Just look at the chav plates topic for evidence)

Anyway, back on topic.

I'll 2nd the Alfa 33 16v. Crazy, revvy, bouncy little things. Wicked crackle on the over-run, too.

Same engine wasn't quite as fizzy in the 145 1.7 16v. But the 145 Cloverleaf is a good shout - but I'll go with the real rarity, the 146 Ti.

Another couple of Italians... Fiat Bravo HGT - with the lovely 5-pot lump out of the Coupe. (Although I prefer the Marea, which was essentially a Fiat Coupe in your grandfather's suit), and the Fiat 127 Sport... the Strada Abarth already mentioned is another good call.

A couple of Japs for you.

The 1980s angular, breadvan Civic came as a 1.5i S, which was essentially the MkI CRX in a 3-door hatch body.

NIssan Almera GTI (The car they don't want you to drive) was hugely under-rated.

The old RWD Toyota Corolla hatch was a good shout - I think the JDM version was called the 'Levin' and marketed as a Coupe, although it was really a hatch.

And another couple of Hondas - the MkI Integra EX-16 and the Concerto EX-16.

I've got a Rover 200Vi - it's essentially a BRM without the tarty-ness, as I've got a BRM gearbox fitted, for the close ratios and limited slip diff. Great fun, no-one expects a "grandad car" to go so well smile

I'll put my vote in for the Daihatsu Avanzato TRxx R4. I always recommend it! its not too hot, more like luke warm, but it's a riot to drive and weighs nothing, it's also quite the underdog and no one expects it to be anything remotely quick as nobody knows what it is.

Good call.

Very, very rare. Wish I'd bought one when I had the chance back in the day.

Most of my 'unusual' nominations have already been mentioned (Visa GTi, Alfasud, Strada/Ritmo Abarth, ZX Volcane etc) but I'd add MG Maestro (common, but I'd say it would still be considered unusual in real terms), but my trump card which has yet to be mentioned is the Tipo Sedicivalvole (probably spelt wrongly) - never owned one, but they looked quite mean in black...

Did you ever get close to 5.9 or did you just whack the stats in a car peformance calculator online? hehe. Only jokin, love the Ek9.

Pulsar has to be rare, well one's you'd be willing to buy anyways haha.

If you want really unusual, try tracking down if anyone owns a Dodge Omni GLH or GLHS. Or ask on a yank forum. The only American really hot hatch...
