Clearly the driver would be uninsured, no?
No. He'd be covered under a blanket policy.
For driving vehicles on caompany business, yes.

For takign the kids to play golf?
yes As stated before, he will be using the car to see if the fault has been fixed. He needs to drive the car (ideally with permission) to make the checks and the garage will cover him for that. If his boss tells him to take the car home, he will go about his normal business under the garage insurance. Not ideal, but feasible.

I concur, very, very rare. What has more than likely happened is that one of the dealer staff has asked to borrow a car for the weekend, to be met with the reply, 'sure, there are a couple of loaners in the workshop...take the red A3'. Wrong keys picked up, wrong car taken out. I have seen it done numerous times. (and done it myself on one occassion).
good excuse wink

This thread is hilarious, a new car because it had been driven by the service manager?

I bet they just clean the seat backs as well, they must be pretty poor quality if they can't handle 80 miles of childrens feet knocking against them! Replacing them will probably cause more problems than it's worth.

I think a full valet, a free service and a written apology would be the appropriate outcome here.

A new car! hehe

I've seen this phrase a few times on PH, am I to assume that the people writing it have gills or some other way of breathing?

I reckon he was driving the car to check for the random non-starting experienced by the customer. As stated, it happened a few times when I was at Merc, although always with permission, and the SM carried out his normal weekend driving in a customer car.

At the time (nineties) it was the way he ensured an intermittent problem was cured.

Extended testing yada yada and some policies are very unspecific anyway, so he'd be fine. Not right, but he'd be covered.

You'll get nothing out of the dealer. Maybe an in house valet.
Solicitors letter to Audi UK with all the insurance and twoc angles.
Plus of course include a request of an offer of recompense, and also how surprised you weere as the image of Audi is immaculate.

If Audi operate anything like Ford they won't give a flying fk. They use the line their dealers are all independent businesses........

I agree with the comments above, why a new car? Are people just trying to screw everyone now, it's just greedy.

To get a valet, scuff marks removed and maybe a full tank and the next service free the owner is better off than she was to start with so why not be happy with that. If she wants to take it further then write to VAG but there's no need to ask for more for herself.

Very well...

Note the Dark Lord's lack of nose. I think that was the point being made.

ETA: Not implying you fall into such a category - just explaining where the expression comes from!

Personally I wouldnt care about a valet, free servicing etc.

I would just go straight to Daily Wail/Sun etc. to do as much damage to the goodwill of their business as possible.
You think it's newsworthy?

Blimey.
Quick, to the front page!
He he. Good point.

Mind you...have you read either of those papers recently?

I can't answer for him/ them, but all I know is it used to happen at our place. Fix car, do short road test, carry out longer test over evening/ weekend to make sure.

OR, he just fancied a spin smile

I think sadly you are right. Surely dealers would be more concerned about their continued 'support' from a big manufacturer. I would be arranging a meeting with a solicitor while the dealer mulls over its options.
I think Audi's solicitors would easily be able to deflect the TWOC, but playing devils advocate, who knows how the car was driven during the golf trip? We have all had a hire car (which in effect this car was to the driver) and they are not spared the rod, are they?

Most of us breathe through our noses, that's what they are there for! smile

Urban dictionary says:- " Mouth-breather...A moron from a low social caste. Picture someone with a sunken forehead, low hairline, and prominent chin. "

My issue was sorted, along with the next two services FOC. My point was really regarding some of the "demand a new car" statements. They won't bend over and give you everything you want just because you say you will talk to the manufacturer.
