Heritage shell builds?

Last time I checked you can't get one for an Escort.

wink they've been around for some time, mostly used in historic rallying
Happy to stand corrected on that one, but an RS2000 Custom (drop snoot) and a group four rally shell are chalk and cheese.

No, they're not, both just old Ford bodyshells that you can still buy all the parts for (nb, some parts may be none OEM parts), made by men with relativly simple tools . . . . . . Once you've seen somebody make a long gone F1 car or vintage Bugatti from scratch, you tend to understand that if men made it, then other men can make it again wink

This is a grey area as frames with UK registration documents are used to replace broken and import frames. Saves a whole £40 for a VIC check, £25 for a log book and £10.99 for a numberplate. Iffy but not illegal.

rolleyes

When I'm president of the democratic banana republic of Jay-rule salem I will make it illegal and punishable with death by potato. In the mean time however there's not a lot we can do.

It is, as far as I know, legal and quite common with bikes.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=frame+v5

There are plenty of reasonable reasons to buy a new frame.
First off, because your frame is damaged. A lot less hassle to buy one with a V5 and use that then to get everything transferred.

Then there's cat-B bikes that don't deserve to be, projects etc.

Not saying that a lot of frames aren't bought by thieves, however.

It's not a grey area at all, neither is selling a vehicle chassis with the log book which is essentially what this is, it just seems iffy because the frame is so small, think of it as a full size land rover chassis and all becomes clear!

Oh dear. It's not even a valuable tax exempt one, just a crappy E-reg? Seems bizarre to even bother but it has 8 bids so must be worth something to someone!

Reported anyway smile

If someone can get an address, I could pop round with a box of matches to deal with the V5.
The car has been scrapped, without a certificate of destruction and the log book has been kept. So the Continuous Registration Department of the DVLA (See "DVLA vs Liquid Knight") will be on to it shortly (if they haven't been tipped off already). As it's the old type of log book and the car's been scrapped it's safe to say the car isn't tested and you need an M.O.T for a retention certificate the only way that number can be put onto something is ringing.

A 1988 Mini could be worth up to £3,000 for a 998cc and nearly double that for a Cooper carb' and Minis are easy to steal and have had the same basic design for fifty odd years so any Mini from any period could get rung with this kit. Lock up your pride and joy if you own one.
