Is that the Autosrada heading towards Forte Dei Marmi?
No, but not too far away though, heading East behind San Remo, so if you carried on past Genoa and Luca you would be there in a couple of hours.

Not so sure about that. Marty McFly showed that even with time travel it was difficult to arrive anywhere on time in a De Lorean.

FIAT Stilo. Take a look at any reviews and they are uniformly diabolical. And yet the reality is pretty much that they're as good as any comparable car of their age. Not only that, but the current Bravo is broadly based on the same platform, and that gets pretty good press. Bizarre.

I had a Stilo Multiwagon JTD and it was tremendous, only sold it because the wife needed an automatic.

Chrysler PT Cruiser. They really are st, but somehow kinda charming to drive, like an old VW Beetle. They put a smile on your face for their honest crudity.

Very very true, I had one of those out here all last year and it was fantastic, that engine was very strong and coped much better than all the 1.6 d's I have had since. The only car to come close and (mainly because as standard its fitted with every bell and whistle) is the Kia Ceed as above, but still prefer the old Stilo for sheer function.

The ZS was incredibly dated towards the end, though - being based on the 1992 Honda Domani, which was arguably a better car when sold as the Civic in the UK. I particularly liked the VTEC wagons.
Indeed, though the chassis was still somehow(magically!) up to scratch and they did a great job on facelifting the exterior. Shame the interior was muck and showed every one of those years. Also, and this might be a personal preference, but I prefer the v6 to the engine in the ek9 type r.

As for the ZT... never really saw the appeal of the 75 on which it was based - and the facelift cars were cheaply made with incredibly poor panel fit.
What? Facelift cars weren't made any differently than pre-facelift, all the facelift did was change the front+rear bumper and the headlights.

So, they're not particularly bad cars, but they're not as great as the blinkered fans would have us believe.
Definitely aren't great cars, but they're good cars in their own way. However, (and maybe this is an Irish thing), anything MGR is regarded as being a bucket of ste that breaks down every two miles and couldn't possibly be an alright car :/

The "one before the new one" polo was said to be uninspiring and boring to drive, The one i rented got slung around like a new york protester and was absoulty hilarious, especially for a 1.0

Yes they were actually and even MG enthusiasts know that too as the pre-facelift models actually fetch more money than the facelifted ones.

The facelifted ZTs had corners cut such as less sound insulation and the roll bars where excluded which effected the handling, i believe. I'm sure there were more examples of poor build and cut corners too.

Seems the old Rover 800 is getting some love.

My father had a 827 SLI saloon about 10 years ago, it was an early one, about 1988. It went much better than it's 177BHP suggested and apart from a little grot on the rear arches and the noisiest tappets I've ever heard ( a trait of the Honda V6) it was a great old boat.

Oil pump failure rendered it scrap at 160K and was replaced with an Audi A2 TDI, a car that I personally underappreciated at the time.
I had two 827 SLIs (is there any other 827 model?). 1st one was brilliant and I was daft to sell it.

I had an 827 Vitesse it was a great car,m comfortable, smooth and fast. I remember driving from the south of france by autoroute to the channel ports with 4 adults and a boot full of wine and the trip computer showing an average speed of 105mph. Cruising at 110mph it would go up the incline without slowing at all.

I p-ex it for a Nissan 200sx

Lotus Elise S1! (Bear with me...!)

It's nowhere near as impractical as lots of people make out.

Yes, it's awkward to get out of, and yes, it's bloody noisy...

...but I've used mine as my everyday car for nearly two years, and I've never felt the need for anything bigger.

I can get my golf clubs in the boot (big surprise), with a new roof it genuinely doesn't leak (even bigger surprise!), the seats are the best I've sat in (out of hundreds of cars) and the heater is brilliant.

I do have to wear ear plugs on longer journeys, mind you...

This was my shout a few pages ago aswel. Great cars & can be used on a daily basis (I did for 18 months & covered 38k)
I find the people who slate them, have never owned one!
