Take one 964, add fake RS parts, spend a fortune on wheels and suspension to make it handle like a dog, park it in a shabby warehouse for the 'urban' feel, get bird who went to the Heather Mills school of runway modelling to do the Max Power bit
Not a great recipe in my book
Good job you in Belfast boys, too far to come and give you a slap

Most of the fuss on here is because the PH editorial team didn't realise that its a Carrera 4, not a RS.
Personally I object to the car wearing a RS badge, but the rest of it is down to individual taste. All the modifications seem to have been executed well as far as one can see and the car looks to be much loved, so I can't see the harm in it.
The whole "lowering and cruising" thing isn't my scene, but they're passionate car enthusiasts so we should be on their side. Its the anti-car 'mentalists who are the enemy

I would also add that journalism is meant to be impartial so making an editorial peice based so strongly on personal dislike is a poor effort. Very few people on here i would guess have completely standard cars or have never modded a part of their vehicle so then the changes are purely down to what we each like at the end of the day what he does is good for cars in general and the love of said cars.
PH is a broad church. Let's keep it that way.
Its on hydraulic suspension!! There are still springs to control the handling of the car, the hydraulics merely allow the car to be raised and lowered. I have to laugh at all the folks who say it would be so much better on coilovers because then it would handle better. Would it really? If it was sitting that low would it really be useable? Bearing in mind that John uses this car as a daily. He can have it low for the shows, and then raise it when he wants to drive it, rather than taking it home on a trailer and the thing never being used.
I dont think people realise the amount of work that has gone into the car, they will never appreciate all the small details. I personally dont agree with it having an RS badge, but then i do like the way he has tried to replicate that in some ways with the door pulls rather than door handles.
Im fed up looking at 'stanced' mk5 Golfs, im glad someone has the initiative to do something abit different.

Just for your info: Langely is a village outside of slough 'he' grew up in langely not slough
Thanks for the effort though, i guess you should get your head back in the books and study

The point I was trying to make is not to tar an entire "scene" with the same brush. This is hardly on the same level as a grotty mk2 golf gti on coilovers.
Oh, and just for your info: Stirling Uni doesn't start back for another week
With some BBS split rims I would be in heaven! car looks nice..
The only thing that I really dislike is the neon speakers in the door. Now that, I am sorry to say, deserves a proper slap round the chops!! jesus, who other than a 18 year old corsa driver would think some neon speakers would look nice?

Looks ok at driving height, not so when in collapsed mode. Be as well buying a goosed BX.

very poor editorial with incorrect facts. It may not be to everyones taste and thats the point. Modifying cars is an individual perspective and it is his money and his car. Everyone may be happy in driving a car that looks identical to every other car that came out of the factory but that doesn't make you right more make your opinion more valid.
I dont know the person who owns the car, ive never seen it in real life but at least he is doing something different. Its not what i would do to it but at least i can respect that its to someone elses taste.
the pistonheads bandwagon must be massive. And for the record, the car is lowered on custom made and finitely detailed and built hydraulics
