I have a Nissan 350GT Skyline, and it does get a lot of attention, mostly good. My 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe you might as well be dead.

BM - completely random from instant road rage to what appears to be "respeck"

VW California - had it a month and EVERY time it's been parked up near the beach, someone has come up to us and asked about it! All ages from young (usually a T5 van owner) to the older types who "used to have a motorhome"

It's really nice!

The Defender got a bit of attention and so did the R32 Golf - all positive.

The Astra only got slightly noticed when new - they'd only just come out in that shape. After that, it was invisible!

Panamera...a lot of positive comments and thumbs up; which I find strange in a way because whilst I love it I think it's a bit of a marmite car. I was out today and had a whole group of people stop and stare as we went by!

Also Z3Mcoupe and Ferrari 348....both cars always got incredibly positive comments from 99% of people.

My old Impreza Turbo - Mixed bag tbh. A good few years back used to get loads of waves from fellow owners, however that seemed to die away over recent years. Had a guy in a Volvo try to kill himself just to overtake by me once. Also had some arse try and put a glass bottle through one of my windows when i was parked up in Glasgow city centre waiting to pick up my wife. Worst part of that was he tried to smash the window with the baby seat next to it. Thankfully the wee one wasn't in the chair at the time.

Monaro VXR - Gets quite alot of attention, all good so far. Just have to get used to random people coming up to you at car parks wanting to chat about the car and have a look.

The MX5 doesn't get much attention.

The Quattro gets looked at and some scournful looks going through underground car parks over 4000rpm!

The currrent one (focus estate) no interest at all.
Past ones:
The integrale- a lot of attention every time I went out in it, all positive- mainly from 20-30 yr olds but even once from an old lady who "loved" the colour!
The quattro- occasional interest from older chaps in anoraks
But the best ever was when i was showing some friends my new Karmann Ghia and a bloke lent out of the window and shouted
"Oi Noddy, get in yer car and fk off'
So I didrolleyes

This quote from the garage page is a bit bizarre:

"Update. Can't say how much I love driving a BM, really marks you out in the traffic."

confused Strange, saying as BMW are everywhere these days!
TarpaTow on what do you say when asked what you drive thread said:
BM obviously.

I don’t get asked very often because I do try and get it into conversation early on so that people know what I drive before they like need to ask. Most are way impressed although a few think their Audis or whatever are better.
I also wear BM accessories when possible, like my polo shirt and things, and use a BM umbrella, which really lets people know that you’ve made it.

When I look around garages I used to find salesman would always like ask you what you drive so I always make a point of letting them know what I drive straight away so they know they aren’t dealing with an idiot or a timewaster. Some people try and be flash and say they’ve got a M3 or M5 or something but a lot of people, especially girls don’t know what that is but everyone knows what a BM is and it’s a status symbol, so it’s way more impressive.
Half of me wants him to be real, half of me hopes he isn't. Has S-line Luxury bought a BMW now?

ST220 - nobody is that interested, except the odd hot hatch or Golf TDI driver who decides to act like a knob. But maybe they'd do that anyway.

Anyway back on topic for me: Triumph seems to get respect, or people pulling out because it is an old car. That really does irritate me...

The Passat just blends in. In this car I can launch an excavation project on my nose and nobody will notice wink

Corsa (I know) got the usual knobs in hothatches trying to overtake me despite me being bang on the speed limit (but not a proper overtake, more like "drawing alongside and expecting me to let them past, then them having to brake because of parked cars on the other side of the road"... then they flashed their lights to try to dazzle me (I flipped to 'antidazzle mode' on the mirror and shoved a finger out the window)... then they stuck to my bumper along the NSL bit, then I went all the way around a roundabout and they followed me... and then I drove into the town centre and they peeled of (2 cars of them) and I drove along, then I heard tyres screeching and saw headlights bouncing as they tried to catch up with me over the speedbumped town centre (with the order of cars reversed), so I nipped into a car park behind the bingo hall and killed my lights (attracting attention from a bloke that was walking past and thought me suspicious, I was relieved to have a handy witness if they'd seen where I went!))

So yeah, Corsa gets bad attention (not helped as it's totally unmodified and I have long hair, I think they were hoping to pull with their very impressive driving skillz innit. I'm a bloke so they would have got one helluva surprise...)

The Combo is a fairly anonymous thing. I get waves and stuff mainly because of driving quite courteously.

Everybody loves my classic Mini - plenty of "I/my parents used to own one" comments, also a fair few "wow, those really are small" comments too. It's a happy little car smile

Like others have found on here, my TVR chimaera only seems to attract positive attention. Normally it's people winding their windows down to hear the noise or people asking you to rev it, but it's always good.
My 07 RS4 Avant only seems to get attention too as I think it's only really known as what it is by those in the know. Despite the big wheels and arches, it's just another black A4 estate to the untrained eye.

I got a spin out in a red 430 spider recently and I was surprised at the polarity of the attention it draws. Kids and some adults like it, but some people really seem to hate you for driving such a full on posers car.
It was a lovely price of kit, but asides from being well outside my price range to run, I'm not sure I'd want that much attention
