Saw that vid a while back -excellent stuff.

Maybe it's me but it seems that most of the time I see aggressive driving, it's by a fat rep or a quivering geek hiding in their metal boxes.

It simply shows how much cowardice their is on the roads. People don't think "what if I see him later" or "what if he takes down my reg number" - they just rage, put others in danger, then drive off, considering themselves to have "won."It doesn't always work like that.
IME it is either a person who drives as part of their job (taxi drivers seem especially prone to bouts of anger, and seem to forget that there is often enough detail on their car to report them to Police, Employer and licensing authority) or seems to be someone who is blatantly unhappy with the car they are driving (see Zafira/Picasso etc).

They shout and scream from inside their cars and when faced with someone who gets out of the other vehicle, and approaches them calmly with a polite manner to ask what the problem is tend to back off and lock themselves in or get shouty and make threats.

I'm fully aware that some people are properly tough, and some are nasty pieces of work, but the vast majority of people who can hurt folk or are properly handy generally don't start shaking their fists because you 'push' in front of them in a traffic queue.

Nice one!

So the posters were right when they say that people were always pricks but there is just more of them now. Well done, PH!

So summary if this thread so far:

People are getting angrier these days on the roads in the UK due to a combination of factors, including lack of control in other areas in their lives, lack of space , welfare state, cost of living etc.

Vladimir is most certainly not a nerd or fat. You shouldn't mess with him or his family or else there will be reprocussions. He's written it here first on the internet!

Nuttah is also a big tough ugly guy and you shouldn't mess with him. Infact when he stares them out the cowards on the roads lose all their balls. He's so tough infact, that he has to boast about it on the internet.

The last two points have very little to nothing to do with the thread but were thrown in for good measure to show macho prowess

As always, some interesting insights.

But what about those of us that never have such incidents?
Are we just pussies? laugh

I think most drivers are getting angrier lately, and the extremes they go to to show that anger has massively increased. Any indiscretions seem to be dragged on and on, rather than a quick toot on the horn and back to normal.

Typically, I think I'm going the opposite way laugh

Had a moped for about 18 months, and while I saw lots of crap driving I didn't dare do much about it. You're never going to win when you're on 2 wheels.

When I passed my car test at 17 I was very road ragey, would use the horn for most mistakes made by other people, although didn't do the weird stalking/ flashing routine for miles on end that now seems common.

Now, after 3 and a half years driving I can't remember the last time I used the horn. I still see lots of crap driving, but I guess it doesn't surprise me anymore. With experience, you can pretty much predict what the next idiot is going to do, at that point it's more mild irritation than anger. For me it is, anyway.

Roads, all a bit like PH these days.

You spot somebody special, mentally "mark their card", then file said card under T for tool (or something else beginning with T, and after that just keep clear and avoid as far as possible.

For all the tools about you will need a shed rather than a filing cabinet.

Why don't we all just take a deep breath and let the idiots drive on. Let them have an accident with someone else.

In the end if a fight kicks off and people get hurt and may even die (rarely I know but it can happen) how long do you think it takes to get over the regret of a single pointless argument over nothing......

If I was being stared at by an ugly angry man then I wouldn't look at him either wink now a good looking lady well that is different.

Few years ago I read an article about "chariot rage" in ancient Rome, which was a big enough problem as to be debated in senate.

I recall reading somewhere that also in ancient Rome the elder community were complaining that the next generation were useless and feckless.

People seem to take offense whenever I pass them on the inside.

You would think that it would tell them something.....

Don't you love it though when someone pulls out in front of you and instead of braking you are able to just overtake them without even changing speed?

Bonus points if they then get angry at you.

I pass an A road T-junction on my right on the way to work and people frequently pull out on me. Just occasionally I can just sweep past them and for some reason they don't like it. One bloke actually rang up and complained. I was standing in the office at the time and I could hear my manager taking the call:

"So you pulled out in front of him and he overtook you? <pause> And how fast was he going? <pause> About 50 mph? <pause> So what exactly are you saying that he did wrong? <pause> OK, I'll tell him not to do it again."
