RE: Geneva 2012: Bentley EXP 9 F
Discussion
Lose the big fogs and add some definition on the rear.
It has the sense of arrival sorted with the Bentleyish grill but they need to try harder to give it a sense of 'passing', if one came past you could mistake it for a Q7.
Very disappointing, lacking in all ways (that dont involve driving it).

Well I'll add my vote in favour of the minority here; I quite like it, especially as the styling will be refined and the scale of the thing in the flesh will make it quite dramatic.
STYLING
1) The rear is quite 'old-school' stylish - reminds me of 70/80s British motors.
2) The profile is standard SUV (I like that its a fair bit taller than the too-short Cayenne)
3) The front is hideous and should be reworked.
4) The interior (which most people like) I loathe. I might start to like it in more normal colours
5) The Mulsanne looked terrible as a concept but in the flesh I think its one of the most imposing, handsome cars on the road today.
6) Its almost impossible to design a long-term very attractive SUV. Only Range Rover have succeeded. I was very worried this would just look like a Cayenne with a Bentley face - it does not. Undoubtedly the styling does need to be refined + un-blinged.
CONCEPT
Bentley need to become SUSTAINABLY PROFITABLE and an SUV is a better direction than, for example, the AstonToyota-supermini. People need to understand that car manufacturing is not a hobby sport, its a business. "Glass ceilings" just don't work and car manufacturers who survive in the long run are always innovating and experimenting with new directions
"Bismillāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm. Al ḥamdu lillāhi rabbi l-'ālamīn, we gettin Arab Money"
Or gettin that Footballer money
In the former case, sometimes with gold rims and trim, in the latter covered in a matte black or chrome wrap
Initially I thought it a monstrosity but I kinda like it now :$ At least no one can deny that its better looking that any iteration of the Cayenne

I think it would have been improved massively with a darker colour. Apart from that, change all the lights, the little grills between the headlights and main grille and change the wheels.
The rear spoiler also looks weird.
Bentley is right to be going where the money is, but do all manufacturers seem to think that to make a good suv, it has to look like frankensteins monster?

Quite honestly, this is the worst looking car I have ever seen.
I have no problem with the concept of a Bentley SUV, but this is truly laughable.
Bentley has embarrassed themselves on a world stage; I honestly would expect someone to lose their job and that is very sad.
Call it a concept all you like, it makes me think that Bentley are inept.

I've just bought myself a current-shape full-fat Range Rover and one of the dealers I spoke to described them as 'a four-wheel-drive Bentley'.
I can see why.
But looking at Bentley's interpretation of what they could produce is just the opposite. Classy is replaced by brash. Subtle is replaced by in-yer-face.
A Bentley should be a timeless masterpiece. The Range Rover is. But that clearly isn't.

I think this photoshop looks slightly better:
If only it had looked this good (the lesser of two evils by far).I think this photoshop looks slightly better:
The actual one?
I makes me want to cry.
Then sick my face off.
Then cry again.

I'll buck the trend here, I think it looks amazing. I'd love one. Not totally keen on the lower jet engine-alike vents or whatever they are, but overall it's very nice.
I'm in agreement, it looks far more interesting than any current super-size 4x4sThere is a certain hint of irony in accusing people of not being individuals for not agreeing with you.
I think it's great news that a UK manufacturer is doing well enough to extend it's brand into an entirely new field and at the same time creating revenue and jobs for the UK economy, seems to me a very exciting time for Bentley, this is a CONCEPT and not likley to hit the showrooms in this form so give them a chance to develop it..apologies for being overly positive;-)
