RE: Spotted: Talbot Sunbeam Lotus

Yes, the prices are going up but I think it is as much as anything that is seen as classic or retro are going up quickly. I still think the prices are held back by the fact not many people are familiar with them and Ford Obsessed so see little else.
As much as I loved mine and would like one, 20k of my money wouldn't go into one now. At that money too many other things I would then want to consider too as an alternative choice sadly.
Be a shame if DAC89Y has died.... I will truly be sorry to learn if it has.

I, for my sins was the second owner of DAC2Y....I live within half a mile of Leon Gibbs who was the supplier of the DAC series of cars, I believe he still has one tucked away.....
2Y was one their two demonstrators IIRC (I think 5Y was the other one..?)And yes, the family still does have one tucked away (along with a few other mint original Rootes cars)
Late to this thread. I owned LPH 287W from 84-89 and took it from 14k miles to about 35k, anyone know if it is still out there?
Following on from the power and mpg posts, I found consistently 156-159 on Skip Brown's dyno with no more than a Skip exhaust and re jetting/setting up by the great man himself on 3 occasions. 14-19 mpg before but once set up well over 30 on a gentle motorway run, even with 2 windsurfers on the roof. Series 1 cars were thought to have 5-8 bhp more than Series 2s I recall. The SB suspension kit and LSD transformed it, rear discs probably were not worth the bother for the road. At Club Lotus North Weald sprint days it was usually between the 7s and Sunbeams to set FTD, mostly I think because the nominally faster Turbo Esprits were hard to drive sideways. Great days. Still a good drive these days - at least it is on Forza Horizon. Back in the day, unless in the company of a 3.0 911 or better, the unexpected king of the north circular traffic lights drag strip.
