I like it. If i had the money id certainly have a look at one. More practical than a 2 door coupe and better looking than a 5 series. In answer to the is it a coupe question i though it comes down to the roof line not number of doors. You can have a 4 door coupe and a 2 door saloon?

Indeed, and this is a four door saloon. hehe

The new four-series, for example, is a two-door saloon.

The only four-door coupe that I can think of is the RX8.

is it really that different to the M5 to justify a separate model? Pretty ugly IMO

Was going to come here and say "I'd rather have a Quattroporte" - But truth be told, this is a really good looking car! Not a fan of new BMWs, but this I really do like.

In what way is it a coupe? It's got four doors, it's a bloody saloon!
I'm with you on that one in principle but you can't blame BMW for starting the so called 4 door coupe model line. Look at MB CLS or Audi A5 that precede it.

For some reason I thought the M6 was relatively affordable for the performance. One in the classifieds at £101k wobble

Another pointless creation by the BMW marketing department.

That is just one giant tub of technology. Its outgrown its own sense of style.

Why didn't they just make the 5 series better looking?

Hmmm... I actually quite like this. I'll admit to being some what against niche within a niche models because I just can't get my head around the conversation in the boardroom that would have led to some of them being approved.

I do like 6 Gran Coupe and this M6 Gran Coupe looks very nice. M5's have always had a tiny bit of the Impreza about them to me. A little bit shouty and boy racer. The M6 Gran Coupe looks like a responsible, respectable mans M5.

Given the choice. This over an M5.

Then again I'd really want the current or new Quattroporte but I'd probably be too scared to make the jump and stay safe with this M6 Gran Coupe. biggrin

As has previously been pointed out...

If you don't have the 100k to spend on this car then your point of view is pretty meaningless to BMW. Which means styling direction increasingly comes from China, which doesn't feel the same way about a lot of the things that the UK does. Tough. All we can hope for is that the UK remains a big enough market that at least one or two of the variants are vaguely suited to our needs/wants.
