I like it. If i had the money id certainly have a look at one. More practical than a 2 door coupe and better looking than a 5 series. In answer to the is it a coupe question i though it comes down to the roof line not number of doors. You can have a 4 door coupe and a 2 door saloon?
Indeed, and this is a four door saloon. The new four-series, for example, is a two-door saloon.
The only four-door coupe that I can think of is the RX8.

I think it is because it is a four door coupe (6 series) not saloon (7 series).
In what way is it a coupe? It's got four doors, it's a bloody saloon! Hmmm... I actually quite like this. I'll admit to being some what against niche within a niche models because I just can't get my head around the conversation in the boardroom that would have led to some of them being approved.
I do like 6 Gran Coupe and this M6 Gran Coupe looks very nice. M5's have always had a tiny bit of the Impreza about them to me. A little bit shouty and boy racer. The M6 Gran Coupe looks like a responsible, respectable mans M5.
Given the choice. This over an M5.
Then again I'd really want the current or new Quattroporte but I'd probably be too scared to make the jump and stay safe with this M6 Gran Coupe.

As has previously been pointed out...
If you don't have the 100k to spend on this car then your point of view is pretty meaningless to BMW. Which means styling direction increasingly comes from China, which doesn't feel the same way about a lot of the things that the UK does. Tough. All we can hope for is that the UK remains a big enough market that at least one or two of the variants are vaguely suited to our needs/wants.
