I was over in Paris over Christmas time with my girlfriend, and we're both vegetarians. Not the easist country to be one in... we went to eat in the Renault resturant at one point lol, actually looked very posh in there. However we couldn't work out one single thing on the menu, Google didn't really help us, so we up and ran before the waitress came back!

Next up is Prague... happen to know what it's like over there for vegetarians!?
In July I'm off on a road trip with 3 vegetarians around France, following le Tour. "Pas de viande" will be their motto, no doubt!

(and yes, I will just eat their portions of meat if I have to...)

Can't say regarding Prague, I wouldn't think there would be much choice ther though.

I had a week in Nigeria once, on the way back I pre-booked a veggie dinner for the flight (Virgin). The stewardess thought it was a mistake, she said she had been flying that route for 8 years on a daily basis and had never had a request for vegetarian before!

Czech 'cuisine' is meat and potatoes. Mostly meat. And beer (well, fizzy lager).
If you're in the centre of Prague there are restaurants to suit all tastes however, so you won't starve.

br d - done the same myself (in a Lotus though, and without the guitar), enjoy your trip and keep us posted on your progress (especially with the pretty French girl photo).

Right, didn't do much today, went into town for a Pizza and get some bloke supplies then spent the afternoon in the Hotels gym and pool (my god describing how I spent another day poncing off work feels so decadent!)

However, I have met Boshly's request for some girl/car action.
There are some lovely girls working here at the hotel and seeing as I haven't paid the bill yet they couldn't really say no!
Bad quality sorry, taken on a phone and I don't have the first idea of how to frame or light a picture properly.

The lovely brunette at the front in first pic asked if I wanted her in a bikini, I blushed, looked at the floor, mumbled something inaudible and did one of those pathetic false laughs. Many PH man points lost there I'm afraid.

I'm now going open a bottle of red and possibly have a walk up the road to the bookies later. They have these weird betting shops here that have a full bar in them and live racing on the telly. Everyone rushes around writing out tickets and I haven't a clue whats going on so I'm probably going to lose my shirt.

Mark, just looked at your profile, you've done a ton of stuff I wish I had the balls to try! Where did you go on your lotus trip?

I have a friend with a painting and photography school near Marmande in Lot-et-Garonne, so instead of flying down there to visit, I gave my wife a plane ticket and drove down over the course of 3 days, then did the return leg over the course of a week and a half.
I can't remember the exact route, but it took in chateaux in Bordeaux and Nimes, along with gites and small hotels in whichever small town I found myself in after each (random) leg of the journey. I loved it and plan to do the same in the not-too-distant future.

Solo travelling, on the odd occasion is great. Being out of your comfort zone and with few familiar things to fall back on helps to give perspective on the rest of your life I think.

Couldn't agree more. I am often alone at home but it's different when you're away, you do reflect on stuff that doesn't occur to you normally.
Your trip sounds great, get that other one planned and post it up here!

I see you have the Dunlop 88mm tortex, nice plectrum.

Lambos good as well I 'spose.... wink

Have fun
I bow to you sir! I didn't even know that's what it was but I just examined it and you are right! You are scarily well informed.
Its the only one I use, the others too thin, or too thick so not enough feel, Im like Goldilocks when it comes to plectrums.

Plus being guitar nerd I know these things after being Grade 8 and 7 years of playing, I do free guitar lessons for Lamborghinis owners in lieu of a drive...

On your own driving trips are great. I've got commitments with my daughter so days away would take planning, but when I drop her off at nursery for the day I am fortunate that sometimes I can make a decision to go to work or take work (very loosely) with me.

Last Friday I ended up at chatsworth house for lunch after a nice drive from my house, had a walk around and had a nice sunny drive back.

It does clear the cob webs especially if you are under some pressures of life as I am. Might be doing the same this Friday as the forecast looks good, I may choose a different venue though.

(No guitar or Lamborghini for me but I did read evo magazine by the river and drove a 159!)

Please return immediately to the Hotel and do the right thing!

Great thread, I could definitely do this, in fact in a way I'd prefer to do this alone as I'm the type who can enjoy my own company.

As Boshly rightly pointed out mate, it's not what you have, it's what you do. 159 is a fabulous car.

Absolutely fantastic thread!

I probably come into the "younger guys" category you describe in your opening thread (<30) but I am honestly just jealous! I wish I had the courage to go and do that on my own!

I look forward to reading more about your trip, and seeing the bikini pictures when do photo shoot round 2 biggrin

What a wonderful thread, I am very jealous indeed. I feel like packing the RS now and doing the same, not sure I would take a guitar though mainly because I cant play one.

I'd take my Laptop, The Last Three EVO editions and my iPod.

When I first saw this topic I though "why on earth would anyone do something like that, just take the wife or a friend and enjoy the car together" - having read the thread, I solute you sir, you are obviously enjoying yourself and it actually sounds like quite good fun tongue out

If I had the choice, I'd swap the guitar for my road bike though biggrin

Great thread. Good to see you making the most of some quiet time away.

Anyway... enough of this Lambo and girls nonsense. What about the Taylor? Looks a nice bit of kit. I've got a 314 cutaway and love it to bits. It's currently away in Holland being fitted with updated pick-ups and electrics and being generally fettled.

France + Taylor + nice car + nice hotel, food & wine = something close to perfection in my book.

I think the new rules mean you'll get an on-the-spot fine if you try playing that thing while driving.

Are we talking about the hotel receptionist or the guitar?

Bloody brilliant! I'm sitting here in my dusty workshop remembering the times I used to go away alone. My (now wife) used to work silly shifts at a residential school and on the weekends she would be at work I used to pack my T2 VW and head off down south for a surf of uup north for a bike ride. As much as I love spending g time with people I can have just as much fun alone. I always used to meet the strangest/most interesting people on these weekend that I would have never have spoken to if I was with my wife or a group of friends. It broadens your expectations and your view on life in general.
More pictures and stories please.
