I think its a really nice looking car but I personally refuse to pay for "Options" that should come as standard on a car in this class especially when competitors offer them as standard. For example when go use the configurator you are forced to select a minimum of over £800 of options before you even get to see the car. What's all that about.

No fan of the Evoque's looks, but this is just an attempt to make an Audi look like a Cayenne (as opposed to making a VW look like a Cayenne). Hardly inspired.

Very good.

It's starting to remind me of Clarkson where he did that Top Gear where he could not distinguish between a Vauxhall Vectra and all the Japanese saloons.

When you get a market that is now swamped by lots of manufacturers, as SUV is the new saloon, then they will tend to get similar looking.

The rear of the Macan could very well be the rear of a new to be announced Golf R but just pumped.

Cracking car. They will sell loads of them.

This, and the Cayenne, are the cars Jaguar should be making.

Come to that, if Aston Martin don't come up with an SUV pretty soon I think they're doomed. Aston should go begging to MB to let them use the M class platform.
Jag SUV on way.
And if they make it more like the F Type than a Rangie then it could be an absolute blinder.

This will be my biggest NO THANKS of the year!

There is no car on this planet I think I would like less to spend my money on, certainly not £40k+

Sh!ty, soap shapped, auto SUV crossovers are not something any car enthusiast should ever admit to taking any interest in.
There's no disputing that it will be a cracking all rounder. You have to accept that being a car enthusiast 365 days a year doesn't really work - how does that mentality go with 15,000 commuter miles and a family to please?

To date, the facelift Cayenne Diesel is probably the best all-round car i've driven. The fact that it will be available in a more compact package makes it massively appealing to me as an every day car; something which can do a bit of everything whilst carrying a little cachet.

I understand Audi top brass were quite surprised how much Porsche changed this from the Q5's underpinnings. Looking forward to the road tests, but my deposit was slapped down today!
As an everyday vehicle, it would just annoy me every day ! Why can't you be an enthusiast every day. Something like an Evo made a great everyday family car for me.

Most everyday driving is single occupancy commute, so why do so many people insist on a big SUV. Almost every cayenne I see on the road has one or two people in it. Why not get a 911 or similar and a zafira etc for the times when you really need all those seats.

Apologies to those who actually need a vehicle of SUV size everyday, but I bet most buyers of Porsche SUV's don't.

I like this a lot. Seems to be priced well also. Have to say, I was expecting the rear end of a 991, but still not disappointed.

Me too. I dislike the Evoque styling and it's absurdly small rear window. It's like peering through a letterbox from inside.

The Porsche is much better.

Whether you like the Evoque or not, at least it was designed - this is just some generic VAG SUV-Lite wearing one of those silicone bank robber's masks.

It bears a likeness to the F-Type. I'll bet Jag are kicking themselves.

Specs are fine, price is reasonable for a Porsche. I like both the exterior and interior. Wife likes it too. As far as an SUV, I can't see a fault.
I think it will replace our family workhorse but aging X5 in about a year's time.

Not image?

I found my Evo plenty comfortable, and a modern 911 is very comfortable.

The ever growing rise of the full fat macho SUV(X5 ,RR, Cayenne et al ) is a total mystery to me;if I may make an analogy it is as if what everybody really really wanted was to walk down the high street wearing ski boots. Because they look tough, outdoorsy and macho and have the added attraction of being able to inflict damage on any trainer wearing upstart who gets in the way. Trouble is, skiboots are really rubbish to walk in. So Miles in marketing has his brainstorm and comes up with skiboots that are actually OK to walk in ,still look tough, and still can stamp on trainers . The fact that they still weigh twice as much as a normal shoe , are now compromised for their original purpose and cost a fortune isn't an issue for the sheep like buyers. Result...
