Interesting to find out why the Titanium exhaust system does cost as much as £5,500

The 2Bular system i have on mine is just over £3000 - is titanium really that much more expensive a material these days?

You're not a mod - you hold no position of moderation what so ever so quite frankly (neither do i) - I'll type what i want (and so should you). I type nothing i wouldn't say to someone in person. What i type is referenced fact and where ambiguity to tone (as tone can't be implied in text) is present i tend to announce the tone obviously to avoid needless confrontation and derailing.

I'm up to 1,641... This thread has been quite good for my post count too biggrin
that wasn't an order, it was a suggestion. as you said you cant identify tone in a written format.

anyways i am happy i exposed the drum beating that occured on the official (not official) forums by the lotus fanboys, i hope the writer gets to try out a lotus 400 long term review (i find that unlikely since he is probably banned from ever reviewing one just as chriss harris because he criticized the God-of-car-company Lotus) for an unbiased review.

Good luck in the future Richard, but i doubt you will ever get to review a Lotus (but hey you can do the other cars that really count, I hope)

My 2Bular stainless 4-1 + Ti Back-box cost 2.5K IIRC, thats on an S2 Exige, which being a 4 pot requires a fair less amount of materials and work. It also does not have any catalysers or bypass valves, so you can easily see where the costs stack up there. Its a bit steep, but then again a Ti exhaust for a GT car is a discretionary purchase if there ever was one.

A big part of the cost will be that it's OE and not aftermarket. It's normal enough even if the OE stuff isn't quantifiable better. It will have more development behind it (they can't work on expert judgment, they have to test and prove and certify in a way the aftermarket don't)

Mainly it will be them chancing their arm at a high margin product.... Which is fair enough.

Are you high? Chris Harris got banned from driving Ferraris (not Lotuses) for exposing them for rigging group test cars on jalopnik http://jalopnik.com/5760248/how-ferrari-spins

P.S - Can I have some of whatever you're on? It sounds awesome!

chris harris is on good terms with ferrari now, hes actually banned from reviewing lotus and was not invited for the grand debut of the 400.

you seem to be running on an outdated version of Life 1.0, maybe you should save some money for an update instead of wasting it on drugs.

Agree that whilst not a bad looking car at all, the Evora doesn't look quite right. I was at the Ace Cafe this week and a white GTE Evora rocked up. It looked utterly terrific. Then a 'normal' evora arrived; it was like comparing a 1.6 diesel focus to an RS. The car needs fatter rear arches (for starters).

No problem with these prices. A fool and their money are easily parted and there's always one coming along.
Yes I also saw a GTE for the first time last summer... And wow what a presence !!! Comparison against a normal evora was more like Clio 182 vs Clio v6!

I know he's back in the good books with Ferrari, but haven't heard about the issue with Lotus, care to substantiate that statement in any way?

Mr Harris published this article: http://jalopnik.com/how-auto-journalism-fails-when...

I have a love/hate relationship with the man at the best of times but this for me was him at his absolute worst. The car hasn't even been given to a single journo yet, but he's already decided it's overpriced and rubbish.

If I were Lotus I wouldn't pee on him were he on fire after that kind of article. I really don't get why he wrote it, or what his aim was.

Then thats a foul on Lotus' part and I have no issue stating that. Nonetheless, all the above comments about the tone and bias in article stand. As do those about your unwarranted animosity towards the brand. I'm not a Porsche fan, (my best friend is a collector though), yet I feel no compulsion to spam Porsche threads with negative comments.

I am a previous multiple Porsche owner, current multiple Lotus owner and "Car fan". I like to think I appreciate anything, except PT Cruisers. Never understood those.

There are plenty of holes to pick with Lotus, and the Evora. If PH allowed me I would link my own YouTube work stating just that. BUT, I cannot stand for an article that sets out to mock a brand for doing only what others do just more so. The regular exhaust on the 400 is a gift from the Gods anyway, who's to say the Titanium isn't even better? They're not options being forced on you.

No, Lotus isn't Ferrari. But I do recall that Ferrari once had a 458 (not Speciale) doing the rounds that had around 95K of options on it. That's a whole Evora 400 with options right there. And change.

i don't read the jalop article as being anti-Lotus per se. It was an point with some validity expanded into a full article. The British car industry needs to get on with doing the right thing, and doing it properly. no place for sentimentality or tolerating the "that'll do" attitude. That's pretty much the way JMG sees things too i believe. It's difficult on low budgets sure, but low budgets come from low sales. JMG has faced up to the reality, put a plan in place and now executing. I really believe Lotus are turning around, partly because JMG is managing well and partly because there's an increasing appetite for their product. fix some basic issues, add some bling, something different than the usual - If everyone has Pork then some will look elsewhere to be different. No the best reason but it will do for starters, once driven always converted...

MrD is a different beast to Monkey.

cool story bro, but I hope you learnt something today and that is not to attack someone and call him high when you dont have all the information or complete picture. now as for the "animosity" , let me explain there are fanboys that are well mannered (jayemm is one) where he can can articulate his issues in a professional way, and then there are some Lotus fanboys that are just rabid, like sharks that bunch up together and gnaw at a person because he dared to criticize THE-HOLY-LOTUS, lately i made it a hobby to confront the rabid types. since i think it is beneath the writer of the article to respond to each one (and they are many).
