I think racers on trackdays is just wrong - and dangerous. Racers on test days - at least then you *know* you can overtake (or be overtaken) wherever, so there is no ambiguity out there at all.

So far touch wood standard has been generally excellent for me on test days - and some magical moments too (chasing a Porsche 935, being overtaken by an Arrows F1 car, sticking with Sam Tordoff for a bit, etc)
Can imagine. Was overtaken by (and then tried in vain to keep up with) a D-Type around Dijon Prenois 2 years ago - flyingscot68 said:

If you can afford to go full retard and buy a 620R/zenos/Atom/Radical etc then more power to you! Can I have a go mister?
Full retard? That'll be me then. If I had the finances I too would be going full retard. My garage would have some serious weaponry in it for sure. For the time being I will have to put up with my mere 140bhp seven.

Challenge then comes that of course you'll want to go proper racing, and then it will just consume as much money as you can ever throw into it.....

I've ridden bikes all my life but it never occurred to me that you get wetter in a car!
Things haven't gone the way I'd hoped with the company going in to administration, ever hopeful that a buyer can be found as I believe the brand and the design have a lot more to offer.
I've taken the car all the way from Glasgow to the South of France and back, did some trackdays down there and had a fantastic time - which is what buying a car like this is all about - fun
I get what people are saying about ex race cars etc. but you'd have to tow one of those, there's no enjoyment in that at all as far as I'm concerned so I'll stick to a road legal track car - made in the UK of course.

ahhh the irony, just flicked back to this tab after a solid few hours researching lithium race batteries.... "i can save a whole 4kg for just £360!!? take even more of my money..!!"
I never understood money laundering with a business like a dry cleaners. Just find a race team, better than paying a million quid for an iceberg and floating it to the Bahamas

I started looking into that option. Then I found an article on carbon fibre brackets for the smaller battery. This is why trackday cars are so expensive to own. It's not depreciation or running costs. It's the terrible addiction known as "upgraditis".

People have the right to use their disposable income as they please. People that can afford a dedicated track car are using them to fulfil their passion and hobby just like others whom will spend tons on the latest bicylce and licra to ride behind a London bus for a 5km ride in the morning, or how others will spend tons on skiing kit or the latest 70" OLED TV and several thousands on high end home theatre setups, or spend thousands on outlandish vacations staying at the Four Seasons.
It's a hobby just like any other and some people are able to afford doing it properly. What's wrong with that? No need to be jealous.

Of course not, but it's one thing kidding yourself (and possibly your other half), quite another to expect everyone else to be stupid enough to believe you!
If you want to spaff £50K on a toy, then good for you and I hope you enjoy it, but let's not pretend there's a sound financial rationale behind it, eh?
Did you gloss over the post regarding the sale of the Atoms? If you want to spaff £50K on a toy, then good for you and I hope you enjoy it, but let's not pretend there's a sound financial rationale behind it, eh?
I think your posts are showing what this is really about for you to be honest.
It's quite odd.

Full retard? That'll be me then. I commute most days to work in mine as a daily driver (granted, the island currently feels like it's sinking under the rain so the trusty cooper s is doing the job today!)
