Best: Focus RS Mk1

Worst: Kia Soul EV

I've actually got one of these on order but ruddy hell, the wheels are hideous.

I like the Oz rally, no photos, but they are quite well known. They were fitted as OE to the Escort Cosworth Monte Carlo.

So the consensus here seems to be that painted silver wheels, ideally in a satin metallic, with symmetrical spokes, look good. Those Focus RS wheels above epitomise that, I feel.

Multi spokes are fine, but any fewer than five and opinion seems to split, and the fewer there are, the thicker they should be (this caveat perhaps lets those lovely old Saab wheel through to the 'good' column).

Black wheels are bad. Two-tone wheels are bad. Anything diamond cut is bad (though mainly due to how quickly they deteriorate).

So it sounds like what manufacturers really need to start fitting are wheels from the 90s...

I really ... really hate these wheels.

Agree. There's just nothing right with them.
Odd, flat styling on a car with defined arches. Tucked too far into said arches. Weird partial polished bits. Strange, swoopy design.
I agree, never really liked the wheels, mainly because of the colour and the diamond cut. After a few years, when they'd picked up some marks, I got them refurbished and ditched the diamond cut in favour of a single, lighter colour (shadow chrome). Now that the spokes are all the same colour, they look more like a multispoke wheel and much smarter, in my opinion smile

Still not a patch on most of the aftermarket options available, but I'm far to tight to go buying something new :]

Again, I think that the less common wheel choice is better on the M3...
Nope. Much prefer the 5 spoke

Much, much better. My dad has diamond cut alloys on his C30 and I know he's unhappy about how tatty they're now looking. Do you mind if I ask how much they cost you to get refurbished and painted?

£65 per wheel, powder coated rather than painted, but they are only 17".
I think most places the price starts to go up once you get to 18" and above.

The Campagnolo designed by one of Gandini's team for the Miura which was also used on the Islero, Espada and Jarama is still the best for me...

I have a real soft spot for Cosmics too, repro 6x10 Mk2s on my Jap 1275 Mini and genuine 5x10 Mk3s on my Cooper S...

The 5x10s are very rare yet somehow I've ended up with two full sets.

Best:

My mother had a brabus roadster and as stated a few posts above the lacquer did last all of 5 minutes!

A choice that may prove to be unpopular but I've liked them ever since I saw the concept

Worst:
As said frequently in this thread, black with diamond cut spokes.

Alloys on this i10, I'd rather have black steelies on a car that is just fit for purpose
